If only more smart ppl had the confidence to share their knowledge and more dumb ppl learned to hush rather than blather on sharing their ignorance

I have a family member that is the Dunning-Kruger effect wrapped in skin. It is jaw dropping how many skills she is an “expert” in, yet is demonstrably terrible at. I can’t take a good photo to save my life, so when I see how horrible hers are that’s really saying something.

That’s why you look at results. Not opinions.

Hi Mark. That's not exactly what the Dunning-Kruger effect is. It's basically just the tendency of people to rate their performance in a test to be closer to the average before they actually find out what they scored. So people who did terribly may think they did well enough to score just below average and people who did really well may think they did well enough to score just above average. That's not the same as smart people thinking they're stupid or vice versa.

That is why we all have the politicians we have!

I think it's a survival skill for less knowledgeable folks, because they'd be overwhelmed by the feelings unworthiness and by extension, die out. Silver lining is you can always acquire humility and knowledge.

There's an error in the video. Yes Dunning&Kruger found that people who are bad at stuff tend to think they are better at it they really are. But they didn't find that people who are good at stuff think they are worse than they really are. In fact Dunning&Kruger found that people who are good at stuff tend to rate their ability accurately.

self perception can fluctuate based on context and activity. Also it needs to be formatted in every possibility and analytical populated test study's.
1. Feel dumb but actually dumb
2. Feel smart but actually smart
3. Feel dumb but actually smart
4. Feel smart but actually dumb
5. Feeling of accomplishment
6. Feeling of doubt
7. Behavior
8. Observation
9. Perception
10. Speech
11. Human Dynamics
12. Self Awareness
13. Curiosity
Only a tiny amount of possibilities.
If you really think about it we don't know anything solid but parts that lead up to that solid, the "Answer".

The news reinforces this in the United States. I can’t tell you the amount of people who will tell you how your EV works and performs when they (ave never actually owned one and have no idea.

Also that's why people who shouldn't rise to power rise to power. Dunning-kruger effect is actually great for achieving things in life. Fake it till you make it.

People with the strengths need to teach the ones who think they know it all, out of love, then they will be as strong in all things.

But everyone is a Gatekeeper.

The trick to this is actually consciously KNOWING the difference between your knowledge/experience/ability and what is possible. This kind of (self-)awareness functions as an antidote to the Dunning-Kruger effect. But that's the point isn't it? People simply aren't that (self-)aware or self-conscious.

Growing up I was overweight, and it wasn’t my fault my mom always told me I’m healthy lol

I knew I was fat, but needed to cope so I agreed with whatever bs she said

Sounds more like the Freddy-Kruger effect.

So true, dumb people are more confident than smart people, thus said Socrates, all i know is that i know nothing

Bro it is fully possible to be overweight and still be perfectly knowledgeable about health. There are many factors that can affect your body and weight, knowledge being one of them but far, far from the only one

It must be frustrating when you have to relay some of the same stuff in your (2 of 4) books AGAIN in YouTube shorts. I'm only saying this in an empathic way because I am one of 'those' that need the reminder 😄 hope all is well with you, your wife and the team. Best wishes.
