Learned this the hard way. Just do it, and skip the dopamine release from announcing the contents of your longterm to-do checklists to your peers. Never overshare your specific goals, dreams, and ideas, as people might steal them.

I am a writer working on a big play and am trying to live this way, too. There is a lot of emphasis these days for artistic people to try to build big social media presence ("talking about it") to be successful. But that also can take huge amounts of time and energy - energy that I prefer to use "being about it, " writing & researching, so that the play I'm writing is actually great when it's done - rather than my social media posts being great.

Wow. Absolutely true. First time I’m hearing someone articulating this so crystal clear. Absolutely I do this a lot when I’m heavily working further on an area. I don’t care what others (up to a certain level in my case because sometimes I use parts at work) say as well.

Unfortunately it does not always work. I am hard working person, constantly learning and willing to go an extra mile. For years I have been missed out when is coming to work promotion.
People who got promoted were the loudest one

I think some people in the past thought I was stupid. However, they did not know my difficulties. In the past two years or so my life has changed for the better and I feel I have overcome those people.
