"there's nothing more worse than arguing with a dumb person they're blind to facts, immune to knowledge, and driven by ego" golden

One thing that helped me avoid getting into arguments or debates with stupid people was the realization they value their egos over truth. It's a point discussion.

Forgot where we saw the saying to quote it but...

This:
"The average person uses emotion to make a decision then uses logic to justify it." (paraphrased)

Without arguments rooted in facts, we're all stupid people.

I have camped on multiple islands on the Gulf Coast of Florida and a person from a FB group I belong to asked which places can she camp that there are no bears around. I told her about the islands I go to and my experiences there, and that there are no bears on those islands. Well, another member of the said group began to argue with me about that saying that bears can be found everywhere in the US. I told him that no bears will be found in said islands, only in the Forests like Ocala and close to the Suwannee up North. This "special" person would not heed his argument, saying that he read this online and that he lives in Canada. At that moment I realized that this person isn't right up in the head and decided to heed my own argument, told him that he is correct, he won this argument, and then I placed that Keanu Reeves meme where he states "I'm at a stage on my life where I keep myself out of arguments. Even if you tell me 1+1=5. You're absolutely correct, enjoy!". And I left it at that. He of course kept arguing but since he noticed that he would not get a reaction from me, his argument began to lose steam. A man controlled by his emotions and impulses is a sad sight to see.

One interesting thing I noticed is when someone asks a question in a sincere manner, that is went their minds are open and being the most receptive to what someone has to say.

Thank you Alux. This is one of the most needed video for me, esp. for today. On this day alone i was forced to talk with 5 stupid people. I was wondering how to tackle those 5 again by tomorrow morning. You saved me Alux.

Many years ago I had an argument with a man who insisted that one of the binomial formulas was wrong. His only argument was that it was "logical" and he would not even accept my mathematical proof. After 20 minutes of fruitless discussion, I gave up.

What I gained from this, is people argue because they want to be heard, and they need validation. It's not possible to win. Either way. When you're right, you're still wrong. So I guess we should just validate their feelings, and try to understand their perception. Positive human interaction is so much work.

Together with the Mark Twain's quote, I would add the Dunning-Kruger effect, that is "a cognitive bias whereby people with limited knowledge or competence in a given intellectual or social domain greatly overestimate their own knowledge or competence in that domain relative to objective criteria or to the performance of their peers or of people in general".

Thanks for the great video. This really open my mind. I always avoid arguing with stupid person, but there are always time when I must make them realize that they are stupid.
This helped me a lot.

The most frustrating argument I've ever had with a person is in the direction of RELIGION AND THE CONCEPT OF GOD, AS TAUGHT BY DIFFERENT RELIGIONS

Ultimately, you're trying to defeat their pride and ego. And people (on both sides of an argument) would rather declare bankruptcy AND ...watch their kids and beloved pets-die in a raging house fire, than compromise their pride and sacrifice their egos.
