I found you through one of the pigeon groups I'm in! I just adopted my first pigeon yesterday. She came into the wildlife center i volunteer at badly neglected, and clearly imprinted. We bonded quickly and became best friends. I hadn't seen her in a week and a half but she was still so excited to see me. We've already had several good couch naps and she's been learning how to fly and enjoying all the room to stretch her wings!

Keep making videos! There aren't enough videos for pet pigeon owners out there!!

Dear Crazy Pigeon Lady -- Thank you so much for this entire series of wonderfully helpful pigeon-related videos! We were "adopted" by our pigeon a dozen years ago. We were out for a walk on a lovely spring day and she followed us home on foot part of the way and then rode on my head until we returned home. Her name is Piggly and she's been the house bird ever since then and in her cage she gets along perfectly well with our dogs and cats. She learned how to "bark" from our Great Pyrenees, so any delivery person or friend coming to our door is immediately "announced". She is extremely affectionate and on nice days she likes to go out with us when we're gardening -- half the time she flies about our yard on her own and the rest of the time she parks herself on our shoulders or heads and supervises our work. When we're done, she goes right back into the house with us. She's a wonderful bird, is very intelligent and has plenty of personality. She's a people person and doesn't like other pigeons at all which we have always found surprising. Guess who rules the roost at our place? Thanks again for your terrific talks, CPL!

Am I the only one that find their cooing really relaxing? Or...

That bird she's holding looks like a bird I once had named Sandy, we called him Sandy the Chicken ! Reason being Sandy thought he was a chicken, he felt more comfortable with my chickens, than with my pigeons and the chickens didn't mind Sandy hanging with them.

This is lovely information. My mother, a former cockatiel owner, is looking for another bird, and I’m trying to make a case for a properly domesticated animal.

I’ve always loved birds, but my household wouldn’t be able to handle the loudness from parrots, so I’ve decided pigeons would be a better option. Thanks for the video.

That pigeon is absolutely beautiful! Great video, new sub here from Norway. In my childhood we had pigeon named Thor, loved him so much, very loving, not hard to take care of in my opinion compared to other pets I have had. My husband have very bad allergies so I can’t have one, my house if full of aquariums instead, but I support pigeon rescues financially. And I care for the wild pigeons in my garden, especially in winter. Absolutely love them...

I didn't have a Pigeon but I had a Ringneck Dove that lived for 20 years that passed away last year he was very wild with his laughing and cooing. I think if I were to get another pet it would be a pigeon but I'm not ready for the commitment, love the brown feathering though, beautiful bird.

Thank you for all your information. I have a rescue pigeon, that was reported as flying in a local alley with threaded feet. Shehe was always alone ;not part of the local flocks. After over a week of trying I managed to net her. She has x 2 coloured rubber rings in each leg - no numbers. I have fed her up, given vitamins and gotten rid of the awful Feather Mites. She's put on 3.5 ounces! I very, very carefully and slowly removed the threads and bathed the feet several times in diluted HIBISCRUB So, now she's lovely and talks to me and flies around the soare room. We are a rescue group and are trying so hard to find an aviary fir her/him. There's some plucking of leg down, as if making a nest.... day times cage is on balcony for fresh air fir a few hours, at night they're back in the cage. How can I keep it happy until we find a safe home for it? No one has claimed the bird, despite posting on FB. Any ideas please? We're near Brighton, in Sussex.

Back in Iraq we used to breed hundreds of pigeons in our garden, where we even grew dates and figs (all normal things to do in the Middle-East)

Usually we either sold or ate them, but whenever i did a good deed or got some time off studies, i got one to take care of personally all on my own until it died. I miss those days.
