Design, user interface, haptic feedback, goes to Dji

But audio quality is completely Rode so I have gone for the Wireless Pros

Great vid Sam - just wanted to check the DJI Mic apparently has the low cut/ high pass filter on by default which is why it can sound a bit weak

I’m loving my dji mic 2 that came with the pocket 3. Just got the full DJI mic 2 package and am looking forward to testing it to the max and seeing how smoothly it fits into my workflow.

Getting ready to leave my Rode Wireless Go II for the DJI. I just love the platform of DJI so much and have all of their other products already.

Thanks Sam for the great review. In contrast to many others, you are looking for practicality in everyday life. So that's what we're all about in the end. And I see everything the same as you. I sent the Rode back and got the DJI set and I'm very happy with it. I even love the sound more. The Rode sounds better at first because it has a boost in the low mids, which makes the sound a little warmer. The DJI sounds slimmer and a little brighter in this regard. But when you use the Rode for a mix with Atmos and especially music, I noticed that I turn down exactly these mids because they often "clash" with the identical frequency responses in the music, e.g.

I've used the DJI mic, DJI mic 2, Rode Go 2 and the Hollyland Lark M2. Although all of them are good, to be honest I do like the sound of the Rode but I prefer the DJI mic 2 for all the same reason you've mention in your review. Also I love the blue tooth feature it cool not to have a lot of stuff to hook up. BTW the clip has a wire lock on it.

Rode Wireless Pro now selling for $349.00. It’s like paying $149 for the set if you consider the Rode lav mics alone are almost $100 each.

I bought the Rode setup and a day after it showed up, DJi released the Mic 2. I ended up ordering the DJi setup and quickly returned the Rode setup. Love it so far!

I haven't seen a comment on this feature the RODE's have that is important for podcasters, YouTubers and streamers. You gave a pizza slice to the DJI Mic 2 because it can be used with the Osmo Action 4 or Pocket 3 cameras. The RODECaster Pro II, RODECaster Duo and RODE Streamer X all have built in receivers for all of the RODE Wireless microphones. This is a major bonus if you do any social media content. For the record, I have a set of Sennheiser ew G4s that I will use for one subject interviews and mission critical sound, but plan on getting both the RODE Wireless Pro and the DJI Mic 2 for use in different situations and respective products each company makes.

Awesome review as always Curtis. One thing you didn’t mention (something everyone misses, annoyingly) is that Rode gear is made in Australia, not China or elsewhere in the Far East.
Rode also have a fantastic reputation for after sales support, and have so for decades. I had a seven year old NT1A that died one day, they replaced the capsule free of charge save for the $11 postage to them. Mic came back with extra bands for the suspension mount too. A mate had their near-decade old mic repaired and it came back in new, updated case for it.

One thing that should be mentioned is that the Rode transmitters record 32bit internal while the DJI only records 32bit in conjunction with the receiver.

When using the transmitters on their own it goes down to 24bit.

One other huge point for the Rode that it comes with two mics that are otherwise about €120 each.
The scoring system in this video doesn’t really work. Mounting options and actual sound quality should not be equally valued.

Thanks Sam for the super helpful review! I came here wondering which of Rode or DJI wireless mics to get, but ended up loving the sound from your shotgun mic and so bought the Comica from the links in the description 👍 😅

Just bought the Rode Pro for £350. I almost cancelled the order to buy the DJI Wireless 2. The thing that keeps me is the included mics and the fact that they lock to the unit. Something that my Sennheiser ew G4 does. I was toying with just buying another G4. The bit thqt got me intereated was Timecode. That would save so much time though it will be interesting to see how this works when pulling it from the device. I use a B and C cam and matching the voice can be a royal pain.

You make a ton of quality of life points and I'm really impressed with the DJI design. My dad has the first version of that system that he uses with his drone.

One of the best gear review I’ve seen! Very well explained and demonstrated, can’t really say anything against! Also very convincing

Welp, I know what I’m having for dinner tonight 😂
The range on the DJI mic was insane!

Great Video. Same as you I'm keeping DJI's mics as they're more practical + easy of use than Rode's in a daily professional use. but nonetheless, right out of the box, Rode mics sound better than Dji for my taste. But some presets tweaking can fix that. Cheers, Isma

I have the Wireless Go II. It's perfectly good for me and the main thing for everyday usability, is the aesthetic and ergonometric design. It is a very neat, simple design and works really well clipped onto the cold shoe on top of my camera (including the Action 4 in a Small Rig cage). The DJi looks clunky and awkward in every video I've watched.

I do like that DJI cameras now link to their mics, which is great.

Cracking channel. 👍
