I am trying to buy a 2023 Toyota RAV 4 hybrid and almost every dealership is charging a 2000 dollar market adjustment fee and when I said that fee is ridiculous, I was told that all dealerships were charging that and they were not going to budge, but I found 3 dealerships that weren’t charging market adjustment fees and I will give my business to them. One dealership were charging a 3500 dollar fee and that was for an extended warranty which they are trying to force on the consumer. Buying a car now is a big challenge and a big headache.

Watching your videos have helped me on how to buy a vehicle. Yesterday at a Toyota dealer I purchased a 2016 Camry with 62K miles with no accidents and the dealer wanted to add an addit $1595 for Lojack that was installed on the veh. I told them I did not want to pay for Lojack and it was a deal breaker & then the used car manager whined that they had paid to install Lojack & then offered to split the cost. with me. I said No & picked up my purse to leave. Then he said, "Let me talk to my manager" --and then he came back & said he would waive the fee. Thanks, guys, for all of your service you do to the car buying public.

I wanted to buy a new Cadillac last year and my local dealer has a forced add on of a Simoniz coating and interior protection. I told them I didn’t want it and said it was not negotiable. It was 800 dollars, which isn’t a lot, but I have to take their word for it that it was actually done. No thanks, I walked.

They’ve been telling customers too bad, that’s how it comes. And if you need the vehicle, you’re basically coerced into paying for the extras.

Good dealers with good deals are rare but are out there. In my case, I found one at my nearest dealer (unexpectedly) who had no markups, no addendum, no attempt to add bogus fees and gave me a reasonable price for my trade-in. (Garden Grove, Ca)

im loving these segments. not only does it give insite into what dealers are doing, or trying to do, but it also gives folks like me a ton of confidence to call dealers on BS like this.

I have been going to several local dealers...Chevy, Honda, GMC and getting enough into a deal where I can see the full breakdown of their nonsense. I listen to their garbage, then I tell them what I will be willing to pay. They go talk to the sales blow-up doll in the back, then come back with the ole standby...we can't do it for that. I say thanks and walk. It has become intoxicating at this point.

I'm picking up a 2023 Camry at $400 below MSRP today. I told a sellsperson to cut my doc fee in half and lower MSRP accordingly. Nothing extra, including "market adjustment". The trick of not paying all the dealer add ons is to order a vehicle in transit to the dealer, one they could not "customize". They still made some money on the difference between MSRP and Invoice price and 2% Hold Back ($500?). And I still paid for overpriced mud flaps a a $70 strip of bumper plastic protection installed in the factory. got to be brutal with those people.

FINALLY got a base model Camry for under MSRP. Paid $27, 750 during president's day sale on a 2023 LE AWD with cold weather pack and floor mats.

They also gave me $1, 800 on my 200k mile trade in that was worth basically salvage.

Just bought a 2022 Porsche Panamera Turbo and they didn’t have any fees except a $499 doc fee which I got them to waive. I also got a discount in the amount of excise and sales taxes. They were pretty desperate to sell it.

Hi Zach & Ray people should hear/know about this shady dealership in NJ. My son who's 24 and I went to a Hyundai dealership, and I asked for the out-the-door price. When the salesperson came back the price was almost $5, 500 more than what the internet advertised price was. This was because he added $3, 495 Certified pre-owned certification fee(CPO)??? This is actually a 10 year or 100, 000 mile warranty, $1, 000 non-Military fee and $1, 000 Loyalty fee! The salesperson said because we WEREN'T Military it an extra 1K and an extra 1K because we had never bought a car with them before. This makes me mad 😡because those two are discounts you give to people who are eligible for them, these should not be a PENALTY or actually and excuse to just raise the price. I told the salesperson that we don't want the CPO we don't want because that's a warranty, but he said no thanks for the CPO - warranty. The salesman said "We only sell our cars with the CPO certification fee". The CPO is something you think about possibly getting as a warranty with the finance officer in the back. They are trying to do "Tied Selling" or bundling products as a force add-on 🤬

Car shopping is so much easier with the internet and CarEdge and others. I just signed a lease for a 22 Jeep GC 4xe and never spoke to the salesman. Only email. I told all the dealers I was working with I didn't want my phone blowing up. I was able to search much farther than I would drive to look for a car. I live in Austin, TX. Last time I bought a car from Houston, TX. This time I leased from San Antonio, TX. I think I got a great deal. Even got it delivered to Austin, TX! I don't think they like me asking to itemized any and all fees, ttl, etc as well as Tax Credits, Mfg Rebate and of course local dealer incentives! Then asking for Money Factor really let them know to watch out! Also, Finance Manager did not even attempt to sell me anything!

Can you explain the "lifetime" (we do not see it here, I suspect for good reason) - Dealer Lifetime Warranties. I think to offer basically an insurance programs the dealer would have to actually meet some standard - like a separate trust or entity independent in a sense of the dealer "general funds" with a reserve expectation that needs to be maintained and some disclosures the client sees to let them know the ease of that disappearing say once the reserves are no longer being met.

I love the lifetime of carwashes. My dealer gave me that and after 1 year, they stopped doing it. Instead of stopping those who were abusing it, they cut everyone off completely. I took it maybe 4 times a year for a complimentary wash.
