I really hope, Micheala Sterling has a brother called Micheal Sterling. Otherwise i will be sooo disappointed.

Actually I found Michaela off putting. Also a lot of people are afraid Francesca will try to get with Michaela while John is still alive. That would be a big mistake.

It’s not homophobia at all. But as an ardent book lover, Michael is my fav male character and turning Michael to Michaela is flabbergasting as there will be no Michael 😢

Francesca's story was destroyed. Turning Michael into Michaela is ridiculous and forced.

Well unfortunately season 3 will be my last season i watch. Im so tired of them changing the original stories too much. That sucks because i really enjoyed bridgerton. But i just cant. I was hoping to see the actual story come to life.

It annoys me that they claim to be doing this under the banner of diversity and inclusivity yet the real reason this was done was because the executive producer wanted to see herself in Francesca after reading her story so she decided to turn her partner into a female it would be great if they stop claiming it’s for diversity when in reality it was done for someone’s selfish desires it also means her story has to be rewritten completely as you cannot do an infertility story with two females

I don't think the producers/writers read the book. There's a reason why they are so popular and these people don't seem to care. Michael is one of my favorite characters from the books. I don't like this change so I'll be skipping past it next season. If they screw up Benedict or Eloise's stories I'm quitting the series completely.

I agree with you totally. So here is why i am really upset. (And quite frankly, i say this as a gay man.) The pairing of Francesca and John is the most "perfect" match in all the books. Their love is complete. But because of the social dictates of the time (the importance of having an heir for these aristocratic families), it becomes an important point for Francesca and John to be parents, and so the whole issue of infertility is central in a way it is not for any of the other Bridgerton siblings. Michael meets Francesca before the wedding, and he is smitten by her, but she is marrying his cousin, so he keeps his distance. Francesca's story is the most "dramatic" of all the stories: John dies, she miscarries, and she is faced with real loneliness, because John had been truly her soulmate. Because they didn't produce an heir, the next Earl of Kilmartin becomes Michael. Now: Michael is presented as a "rake", a young man who is only interested in his pleasures, but once he becomes the Earl, he has responsibilities and the point is: will he be able to "grow up" and assume his responsibilities fully? And so there's a period when he travels overseas to the family estates in "the colonies" and makes sure everything is in order. In other words: he has to grow up, and he does. And when he finally returns, Francesca is now at the stage where she is getting over her grief, and does want to see if she can find another love match. Now: how can a woman (Michaela) assume the responsibility of the Earldom? It doesn't make sense. The whole idea of making Francesca a gay character is simply an imposition by the new showrunner, Jess Brownell (who is a lesbian): she admits she's shoehorning this into the story. We'll see how it works, but right now, it's a terrible idea. In short: the novel is the most traditional "romance" novel of the series: both the heroine and the hero must face enormous adversities before they can finally get together. Each novel is "derived" from a literary source: Eloise's story is a variant of a Bronte novel (the independent woman going to the brooding man's estate), Benedict's story is Cinderella gussied up with more social problems (they meet at the ball and he spends the rest of the time searching for her), Anthony's story is a derivation of Jane Austen (the man and the woman match wits, and initially misunderstand each other), but Francesca's is the most purely romantic, with the heroine having the perfect love which is shattered and she has to suffer until another love emerges. And the man has to prove himself, he must redeem himself so that he is worthy of her love. You could make Benedict's story gay, you could make Eloise's story gay, you could even make Hyacinth's story gay, but not Francesca's because it doesn't make sense.

They apparently didn‘t learn from the Witcher what can happen if you change the lore too much…. Fans of the original Story will stop watching it and the views will go down…

I would have been equally as disappointed and upset had they introduced Michael and Francesca acted that way, just days after marrying John. They have totally disgraced her deep love for John and made her seem so, I don't know perhaps disloyal? I just know she's no longer the Francesca of the book and that makes her a character I don't trust any more because she was played one way all season and now, poof, it's all gone.

Why do we HAVE to have same sex relationships on EVERY series now to the point where we’re changing the whole storyline

People, please be careful when labeling a large sum of people as homophonic just because they don’t like this new plot line…it is possible that there are people out there who genuinely like the books and Francesca’s story, as a result, fans would want see it in live action.

This is the same exact BS Netflix did to the Witcher…imagine Peter Jackson changing the plot of LOTR…it will piss fans off…

Nope. I will not watch Franchesca's season. This is not the story! Michael is my favorite. Those who disagree are called homophobic. I really do not care one way nor other. This reveal destroyed all the happy ending of Colin and Penelope for me. All I can think about is the devastation I feel about this stupid story line. All my Bridgerton joy is gone.

It’s not even really inclusive to just gender swap a couple of characters and queer bait some of the storylines, if they wanted LGB representation they should have just added more characters as they’ve done in the past but changing story canon makes me mad. I definitely won’t tune in for the next season.

The concern with Michaela is more about the miscarriage and fertility issues that could be wonderfully explored for Francesca with Michael.

The Bridgerton book series is such a lovely set of stories that to deviate in the tv series in my view completely ruins the story! Who are the production team trying to please here? Can’t we have just a heterostory anymore? And if not WHY not?In my opinion this change is overkill and I don’t think I’ll be watching further series. I was actually disappointed by part two of series threes with all the chopping and changing. It felt rushed. Benedict DID have more sex scenes than Pen and Colin and I know that was to set the story up for the following season but it took the emphasis away from the Colin and Penelope storyline and spoiled it.

Everybody says if you don't like this gender swap, that is certainly because you're homophobic. Which is utter nonsence in my case. I am heterosexual, but really enjoy reading about, watching of and meeting LGBTQ+ people. My problem with this change is what you said in the video, meaning Michael being a man is an important and crutial aspect of his character. He is who he is, because he is a man. I know it maybe sounds stupid and dreamy, but these characters have been with me for ages. I discovered and enjoyed Julia Quinn's books in my teenage years, and I loved her writing instantly. I love reading gay couple books as well, and I think and hope there should be and would be more gay lead couple shows and movies, but this character in this book was not the right choice. You see, it would not be Francesca's story anymore. It was Miss Brownell's idea of a queer woman representation because she saw herself in this story. But it is not her story, it should be Francesca's, but it never will be. And that's the reason I feel like I was robbed from a really true, emotional and good story. There are many very good LGBTQ+ romance books, which could be valid source materials for tv shows, films. And those would be authentic because those are written from a gay couple's perspective. The industry should do more shows like that, but this was not the optional and logical case for that. I'm sorry if I offend someone, it is truly not from a homophobic perspertive.
