I definitely think that part 2 of season 3 saved this season of the show! It was much better than part 1! Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

“You might say that my wife has two maiden names, ” he said thoughtfully. “Of course you all knew her as Penelope Featherington, as did I. But what you didn’t know, and what even I was not clever enough to figure out until she told me herself…”

He paused, waiting for silence to fall over the room.

“…is that she is also the brilliant, the witty, the breathtakingly magnificent—Oh, you all know who I am talking about, ” he said, his arm sweeping out toward the crowd.

“I give you my wife!” he said, his love and pride flowing across the room. “Lady Whistledown!”

THIS IS HOW COLIN STOOD UP FOR HIS WIFE.

You should've noticed how Eloise while talking to Benedict at the end mentions she'll be returning for the 'Masquerade Ball' next season. *Spoiler Alert* It's the ball where Benedict meets his partner Sophie in the books. So Season 4 is much likely going to have Benedict as the protagonist:))

Francesca storyline is my absolute favorite. I relate to her the most. How she preferred country life to the city 100% and her infertility issues. Where she had a subtle strength versus slapping you in your face like Eloise. Her and Michael's story had always been my favorite. I think because I also deal with infertility and I think it's so sweet how at the end of her story she shows up with her baby to surprise her mother. It's a beautiful moment. I think they should have left the majority of Francesca stories alone because we hardly ever get heroines that are dealing with loss and fertility in these types of stories.

A bit disappointed how they have written a very passive Colin for the second part of the show, as opposed to his book version. The "you might say my wife has two maiden names" line from the book was put to utter waste. Even when Cressida blackmailed Pen, Colin's lines in the book would have been the perfect response, his "I love you with my past, and I love you for my future" lines were sorely missed.

All along, the narrative I got from Polin (book version) was "she fell first, but he fell harder". Sadly, episodes 7 and 8 missed that mark. The protective Colin in the book was replaced by an angsty one, his anger misdirected to Pen.

this whole season is a whole mess dude. Robbed the leads of their screen time unnecessarily. with the amount of chemistry these 2 actors had it could've gone to massive heights but Netflix always finds a way to ruin any good show

The way JK Rowling had a clause in her book-movie deal- to not let anyone alter the main story line... I wish this author had done the same. This season was chaotic, messy, and confusing. I really missed Polin scenes. I feel like they forgot about Colin A LOT and cut out a lot of his dialogue. They really cut out all of the Romance! The unnecessary threesome scenes, Francesca being attracted immediately after marriage, etc. Sadly... I don't care that the next season won't come out until 2026 😮‍💨

Bridgerton was great while it lasted, but we all should’ve expected this, it’s Netflix after all. I’ve genuinely read fanfiction that was better written than this season and that’s disappointing. Truthfully though, I can’t blame it all on Netflix, the writers were the ones who wrote this, they really ruined something that was good and fun. Tv is so over saturated with forced agenda’s, the whole Michaela thing just felt so disingenuous, my eyes could not roll back enough, matter of fact, I think they’re still hearing it in China. It came off as a ploy to be different and edgy but you can’t be different and edgy when almost every other thing on tv and in movies are race swaps, gender swaps, sexuality swaps. It’s much of the same. Whilst I’m addressing the diversity thing, are the show runners and casting directors aware there are more races than black and white, the fact that almost all the spouses for the bridgerton women are black is interesting, this would’ve been the perfect time to actually have an Asian/PI, middle eastern etc. lead. Just saying.

Benedict’s plot-line was just boring and nothing, just sex for the sake of it. Also, this is Polin season and yet they still didn’t give us enough of them, the writers really shoved too many things in there, it’s crazy because Luke and Nicola have great real life chemistry and the writers let them down, almost like they had no confidence in them to be able to carry a show, o ye of little faith. The fact that they waited until the last 10 minutes, maybe less to reunite Penelope and Colin after he found out about Lady Whistledown just annoyed me. The writers could’ve reunited them properly in the first 10 minutes of the last episode or even the last 10 minutes of episode 7 and faced everything together as a proper couple head on when she revealed herself to the ton, and then had Colin go up to her after her speech and show he would support her, publicly for everyone to see instead he was just kind of there. Also out of all the Bridgeton’s that could’ve been Lesbian or Bi it should’ve been Eloise.

I don’t think I’m being dramatic when I say that heads need to roll all the way to the unemployment line.

Michaela Stirling - I’m so disappointed. This put a real downer on the end of this season for me. I love Francesca and Michael’s story. Another example of Netflix giving the bird to the book fanbase.

Justice for Michael Stirling. Why are they changing the books so much? Now the entire story line will be twisted, her coming back into the marriage mart was because she truly wanted to have a baby and now what?

Polin’s story was very good, I liked it. Benedict was dumbed down, I felt bad for the character, and the actor too. Dumb sex scenes with no context, he’s been doing this for 3 seasons now. And lastly, but not the least, Michaela? Queer rep is great, but not at the cost of completely altering the story of such a well written novel. Better to introduce new characters instead. And it makes no sense especially because Francesca wanted children. Very disappointing. This is how shows get ruined, the producers think the good reviews and attention means they can change everything they want to their will, and ruin the storyline.

I can’t watch this show anymore. ‘When He was Wicked’ was my first Julia Quinn book and I have every one of them now, and I love them all.
As they are.
Michael is my favorite male character in the entire JQ library. I have been crying all morning. This is so wrong.
Let alone they have forgotten how socially dangerous it was for homosexuals in this time period. Something they understood in the first season.
Secondly, they wrote Francesca so differently than the book. She is not socially awkward, quite the opposite. She’s calm, clear spoken, and very mature. She’s the middle child. Independent, self sufficient and very assured. She would never, ever stutter in any conversation. She could calmly outmaneuver the Queen if she wanted to, which is why her mother never interfered with her.
Unlike her siblings she has traveled the world with her friends and made powerful connections before she ever marries Jon.
As for Michael. He is raised with Jon at the Kilmarten estate when his parents die as a very young child. Essentially the second son, joins the military and is highly decorated. He falls in love with Francesca at first sight, a scene I was really looking forward to.
Jon is an academic and often turns to Michael for guidance. Michael knows knows he would make a better lord, take care of the estate and home that he loves better, and struggles with jealousy in all aspects, especially Francesca.
All this season they have repeatedly reminded the audience, a wife, a daughter, niece, or sister cannot inherit. It must be a male. The story doesn’t work if Michael is Michaela. She would get nothing. She would have to marry to have security just like any other female during that time period.
Even Lady Bridgerton had to bow to the will and wishes of her eldest son when her husband died. They make a mockery of that fact now.
The reason why Francesca re-enters the marriage mart when she turns thirty is because she wants a child of her own. A woman without a husband could not adopt or even raise a child that isn’t her own without a husband.
So how does this work unless you completely destroy the original story?
How does it make sense within the context of the time period? It doesn’t.
And Michael is a fantastic character. He is restrained and manipulated by social constraints as much as any woman of his day. His love and devotion is monumental. I cried the last five pages of the book. It’s so beautiful.
And it’s gone.

INFERTILITY REPRESENTATION MATTERS TOO. Watching a season-long, well fleshed-out story about a woman who wants nothing more than to be a mother and waits 12 years to have that be a reality would have meant SO much to the 1 in 4 women who suffer from miscarriage and 1 in 8 women who suffer from infertility. Now, at best, we’ll get one episode of she and John not having success and then likely her not losing the baby after John dies so that there’s an heir (since Michaela can’t inherit as a woman).

This season was good in all, but there are two things I didn’t like about it:

1. Not so many Polin sex scenes. Only 1 in episode 5 and a 5 second clip in this episode. Even Benedict had more scenes than them and it’s not even his season.

2. The Michaela reveal. I understand that queer representation is important in these tv shows, especially in a show that is all about love in many different ways. But I am not sure if Francesca’s storyline is really the way to go there. Jess Brownell needs to think how this will look. Michael is many people’s favorite leads in the whole of Bridgerton and to replace him with Michaela like that will make many people riot against this show. And against the actress who plays Michaela. Not to mention, the many changes they will have to make in Frannie’s storyline. The infertility issues and being the only sibling to marry a second time. And I’m pretty sure Julia Quinn already confirmed that each Bridgerton season will have an episode named after each Bridgerton sibling’s book. And Frannie’s book is When HE was Wicked. I just can’t see how the writers can change that pattern and fulfill this. If anything, they should’ve made Eloise gay or bi. Her character would make more sense and her own love story with Sir Phillip in the books sucked to me.

I have never skipped scenes in Bridgton but this season I did and I think that says a lot. So many plot lines and so much of chaos and then the disconnect from part 1 made it mediocre at best.

I’ll say this my favourite part of the second half was Portia’s redemption arc I honestly wasn’t expecting her to admit she screwed up when it came to how she raised Pen and I loved how she saw Pen for who she was and who she should have seen her for all along also I loved how Pen’s sisters even came round in the end and somewhat realised that they too were quite nasty

After all the hype for part 2 and the stuff the actors was saying about how spicy the second half would be I really expected more
