Dr. Dean. A practicing dermatologist who spent 2 years at the CDC as an epidemiologist and has a masters degree in public health.
During this Covid 19 Pandemic people are not being exposed to as much Vitamin D because they are staying inside. Vitamin D is very important for a normal, healthy, functioning immune system. Those people with weakened immune systems will fare much worse than those individuals with healthy immune systems.
The only method of getting vitamin D is through sunlight and supplementation.
Dr Dean recommends 4 to 5 thousand units per day for most people. You can check with your physician. You can check with your pediatrician. You can check with other healthcare providers. But the dosage that is recommended by most people that understand this vitamin is that you need a blood level in the range of 40-60 for your immune system health to function really, really well.

Without Vitamin D supplementation a quarantine-winter effect may result. It does not benefit the healthcare system to flatten the curve if it increases acute respiratory illness in doing so!
