Is there an optimal daily dose of vitamin D for immune function? | Roger Seheult

Показать описание
Vitamin D's recommended daily allowance was established based on its role in bone metabolism. It remains unknown whether these levels are sufficient for optimal immunological functioning. A large meta-analysis of 32 studies, spanning nearly 50 years, suggests that 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels below 30 ng/mL are associated with a higher risk of death from all causes. In the context of COVID-19, a large associative study suggested that lower 25-hydroxyvitamin D are strongly associated with higher SARS-CoV-2 test positivity rates. In this clip, Dr. Roger Seheult and Dr. Rhonda Patrick discuss how to assess vitamin D requirements and its toxicity potential.

Been taking Vitamin D3 for over 30 years now. I've never had the flu, imagine that :). I live in Michigan, so I take 5, 000 IUs between March 28 and Sept. 28. After that I go to 10, 000 til the spring. My range is between 70-90 ng/ml. 67 and Thriving!

I take between 8-10, 000 IU a day, and have done for around 10 years now. It is absolutely critical for good health, in my opinion.

I went to see my family doctor and she was totally appalled that I was taking 6000 IU of Vitamin D. She thinks that's way too high and says most of her patients are on 1000 IU. She is like most medical doctors. Not keeping up to speed on the latest research. A patient shouldn't be educating their doctor on health. A patient shouldn't know more than their doctor.

I had knee pain for 8 years (especially when climbing stairs). I am 55 years old living in the UK.
I tried sports and physio for a year with very little to no progress until I started taking D3, 8000 IU and 200mcg K2 a day. Four months later the pain is gone. No going back now!

I started taking vitamin D in April of 2020 after seeing one of your videos. I got COVID in December of 2020. It was very mild. After 5 days, I went for a test and was negative. I’m not in good shape and I have high blood pressure. I’m pretty sure that vitamin D helped me. Thank you.

Greetings from Malta...I've been taking 5000 D3 + Zinc daily for the past 16 months, recently I've also started taking K2 to prevent calcification. I also take VIt C + B complex & capsules of organic Turmeric, Ginger & black pepper . Stay safe ✌️

For 4 years I have been eating 20, 000 units daily, of course with K2, Vitamin A and Magnesium. My level of 25 OH is 117 and during this time I have recovered from my allergy, improved my strength and had no severe course of diseases, where previously I had pneumonia twice a season on average.

My wife and I are in our late 50s and have been taking 5000 -7000 IU of D3 per day since the beginning of the pandemic. We were in close quarters with several family members that all got COVID this past fall. My wife and I never got ill. Now, I understand it could be coincidence but one thing for sure, we will continue our supplementation routine as long as this threat continues.

If you take a lot of vitamin D3, you have to make sure that you're also taking in sufficient k2. As I understand it, k2 directs calcium to the bones and away from the arteries.

Diagnosed with oral cancer 6 years ago, had to argue really hard with my family doctor just to even get a vit.D level test on my bloodwork, he argued over and over I didn't present any symptoms of Rickets. Anyways after going back and forth about me needing to know this information he reluctantly agreed, I tested at something like 9ng/mL or something ridiculously in the deficient range. Supplemented with 10k units a day for a year, through my treatments just to get back into "optimal" range. I sure wish I had this information 7 years ago, pisses me off that so many doctors even refuse to run a test.

Anyways, found a new dr. The side effects of radiation treatment are now the thing I'm left with trying to manage the rest of my life. I still supplement with ~8, 000 IU daily and it seems to be keeping me in the mid-40s range.

If one is worried about hypercalcemina, the thing to worry about is lack of vitamin K2. And if you get that from eggs, stinking cheese and Sauerkraut, you get a bunch of other beneficial nutrients too. There is a reason big pharma has been hating on eggs for 50 years - 2 eggs per day GREATLY hurt their profits (and improve your health, if spite isn't what you live for...)

I'm 39, male, UK. When I started working from home (prior to COVID, in the beforetime) I started feeling tired all the time. Literally all the time. I'd be going to bed just after 11, waking up just before 8 and feeling tired all day. I'd typically fall asleep for 30 minutes to an hour in the afternoon and I'd still be tired. It got to the stage where I couldn't go out after 7pm as I was too tired. Then I started taking Vitamin D supplements. I started on 5mcg per day (as recommended by the NHS), then moved to 12.5 or 25mcg depending on what was available at the supermarket. Within 3 months I was back to how I was as a teenager. I can now be up till 2am every night, wake up at 8, and not feel tired during the day.

In Feb 2022 home tested positive for covid.; was hospitalized a few hours due to dehydration after being ill about 7 days. After doing all their tests, doctor told me, my lungs were good and all my organs fine. I had been taking 10K D3 100 mcg K2 (with mag and bile salts included ) for 3 years; first year took 2 daily.
In 2012 doctors told me my alveoli were collapsing; they didn't know why. After taking 20K daily for about 2 weeks I didn't need inhalers following a winter virus I had. This has changed my life; working part time as caregiver and part time as cashier in retail. I'm 73 this Nov 2023. I give away bottles of this D3K2 blend to friends and family. Thank you Dr Seheult. I also share your videos.

Was never sick had excellent cholesterol 120 total with 80 hdl and 59 triglycerides. Kick ass immune system.

I learned many years ago that I don’t get cold or flu when my Vitamin D levels approach 60. I need 10, 000 IU to maintain this level. But before mega-dosing, it’s worth asking your doctor to get a blood test (in the US, you can also order your own labs from Quest or Labcorp through online middle men). Based on test results and other information, you can use online calculators to determine how much vitamin D you need to take to reach the 50’s. There’s even a new calculator that will give you a “loading dose” to quickly bring your levels up in a week or two (based on the 30 day half life of Vitamin D, it usually takes 3 months to reach your target blood levels).
