i am from south boston mass. and when i got out of the army in 1974, I was invited to live on my army buddies farm . so i packed up a back pack and hitched rides to boonville.
it was one of my best times of my life. i love it and miss it. maybe you know my friends micheal sides and Marchal carter. i heard marshal passed away. mississippi is the land of hospitality. i also hung out at northeast mississippi collage 1974. i remember sheriff roy elders, he arrested me many times for little bullshit. once for vagrancy. the song old black water was on the radio all the time and i loved it. sweet memories

I think you missed the mark with Jackson, Ms. It should be #1 and McComb #6. There is so much crime in Jackson, Ms. that they seem to be exporting it to surrounding cities. Jackson City Counsel denies permission for the surrounding cities to continue pursuit of suspects INTO Jackson, Ms. So a criminal can flee into Jackson and just disappear. Jackson has a boil water notice SOMEWHERE every week and a sewer problem. Around 1997 there used to be around 325 thousand people within the city limits of Jackson, today there are around 150 thousand. SO Jackson, Ms. has lost population of 175 thousand people in 25 years. That's more than 6000 people a year gone and the city does NOTHING to attract residents to return and doesn't seem to care why they left in the first place so they can fix what they are doing wrong. Instead of spending revenue to fix it's water supply infrastructure, they'd rather build a convention center in a city NO ONE WANTS TO COME TO. Now the mayor is begging the state to spend money on their water infrastructure so Jackson's problems now are the entire state's problem.

If you live along the I-55 or Hwy 84 corridor, I invite you to visit safe and attractive downtown Brookhaven, have a leisurely lunch, and walk to the WW 2 museum on Whitworth Ave. Time well-spent, especially for senior citizens.

Clarksdale is a dangerous town too. Research that one and it will put most of these towns to shame

I recently was in Laurel & Meridian, passed through Jackson & Vicksburg, to get there. We all know why, they are on this list.

I was born in Meridian in 1957. My mother gave birth to me in the black section at Anderson Hospital. Black women couldn't have their babies where white women had theirs. Jim Crow was still in full effect. My mother got us out of there when I was still a toddler. We moved to Los Angeles in 1960 and I haven't looked back since. All I can say is "thank you mama!" RIP😢😮

You’re killing me with how you pronounce Yazoo City. Jackson should be number one on this list then McComb. Next, the entire Mississippi Delta which includes Greenwood, Greenville and Indianola. Clarksdale and Cleveland are also in that grouping. I still love my state, mainly the rural parts.

Folks say mississippi has the worst school system in the country. Heck I graduated the 10th grade and I'm a freaking genius. What you talking bout Willis.

"Yazoo" is pronounced with a short"a, " as in "hat."

Your stats are poorly thought out, as evidenced by the fact that Jackson wasn't #1.

I was born and raised in Clarksdale MS but left and moved out of state at age 12, about 7 of the towns you talked about on this video I’ve visited back in the 80s and 90s . It’s sad to say they are just a shell of what they used to be .

I just love the irony of the Indianola catfish company closed due to a labor dispute. Gee I guess no job is better than one that is less than perfect.

Born in Vicksburg raised in Yazoo for about 4 years
My family moved away up north cause it just wasn’t no good financial opportunities for my Father. But spent summers there and I live down south now
Yazoo is home💯

How can Holly Springs,
Be on both lists of one of the best cities and one of the worst cities in the state?

This is a horrible. There are alot more than 30, 000 people living in Vicksburg and the pictures for Greenville are from the 60s lol the state is bad but geesh atleast provide facts. There are alot more than 11000 people living in Yazoo. This video is a joke. Why would you show the closed down schools instead of the active schools. Benton high has been closed for years and a whole new beautiful school has replaced it. You used pictures to amp up your video but its bull

One thing in common in all of the towns mentioned is the one demographic causing all of the criminal activity and the poor overall school rankings. Whites and middle class blacks have relocated from all of the towns mentioned in video which explains the growth in the suburbs.

I think Meridians not a bad city. Yeah it has crime but, in my opinion, as a person who was born and raised here, it's a very good choice as far as Mississippi cities.

Holy crap! I was born in Meridian, my mom was born in Indianola, lived in Laurel, Greenwood, and partied in Greenville, used to love going to Vicksburg with one of the best Civil War museums i've ever But, as i have always said, Mississippi is a great state! ... to be from!!! ... as far from as possible.... and the one thing you did not mention! The Delta always smells like mildew!! Mix that with the scent of mosquito foggers, and the aroma is quite distinct there!!!
