💫 Enjoy this quick 15min morning yin yoga routine to kickstart your day!
Are you looking for a gentle yin yoga routine to get your day started? Often we think of yin yoga as an evening routine, however, when we practice just the right poses, yin yoga actually is perfect for the morning. In this all level class, we will be holding the poses for up to 2 minutes. If you're new to yin yoga, here are the main principles:
Step 1: Slowly ease into the pose & find your edge
Step 2: Hold still & observe the body/mind
Step 3: Release slowly & rest
Finding your edge means leaning into the body just enough to feel some sensations, however, please respect your edge by not going over. This may cause injuries.
Holding still is an opportunity for us to focus the mind and observe our inner landscape. In the morning, you can also visualize yourself being receptive & compassionate throughout the rest of your day.
The amount of rest necessary varies depending on the goal. Our goal is to awaken our body & mind, therefore, you'll find the resting time to be maximum 30seconds. Should you need longer, simply press pause & rest.
At last, if you love the ending poem, it is called Fear by Khalil Gibran:
It is said that before entering the sea
a river trembles with fear.
She looks back at the path she has traveled,
from the peaks of the mountains,
the long winding road crossing forests and villages.
And in front of her,
she sees an ocean so vast,
that to enter
there seems nothing more than to disappear forever.
But there is no other way.
The river can not go back.
Nobody can go back.
To go back is impossible in existence.
The river needs to take the risk
of entering the ocean
because only then will fear disappear,
because that’s where the river will know
it’s not about disappearing into the ocean,
but of becoming the ocean.
Thanks for practicing,
Annie
