“Our🦶 is highly sensory. It is the only part of our body that is constantly in contact with the environment and is designed to give us a TON of information regarding the ground beneath us.

But today’s society has stripped our feet of this skill set.

We put our feet in cushioned shoes that impede our feet from feeling the ground, which over time, can cause us to lose stability, strength, and mobility of the foot and ankle.

To combat this:

1. Stand and walk on a variety of surfaces to stimulate the sensory receptors of the feet, and to strengthen the muscles as well.

Walking barefoot around the house, in the grass, and on something as easy as the @toespacers Rock Mat is a great strategy.

2. Work on actively strengthening the muscles in and around the foot.

This helps keep the feet resilient and strong as they can produce and tolerate more stress 💪

3. Work on mobility

The ability to move the ankle well and produce force in a variety of different positions allows our joints to stay healthy.
