I put the mined ore directly into the smelters, then load the smelters directly into the cargo wagon.

The really cool part is that the smelters act as a chest, so you need neither chest nor a extra inserter.

Then you can transport the plate smelted andredy directly to useage.

This method is extra efficent when making steel.

Of cause yes, you actually just use a fairly small part of the ore patch. But that is mostly not a problem.

When they run out they can just be shifted, with the bots and roboports still around, this is a fairly qick process.

Most ups efficient solution is to mine to a belt and process it locally and direct insert the plates into the next machine. Check out fallen ghosts base. Direct mining to a train is ups efficient if you have to use a train, but, you don’t have to.

If your PC can't handle that then there's faulty hardware somewhere or everywhere... Factorio is literally the one of the only games I play on a non gaming PC and still create Megabases
