I love how even beginner tutorials are the most confusing thing imaginable

As a veteran, I know this design by heart, but I feel like it would be more intuitive to newcomers trying to learn if you started with the furnaces, then the center and side belts and then the coal and ore loading last.

The key is to understand why this pattern works. Belts actually contain two lines, and the splitter arrangement distributes the input lines evenly into both sides of the belt. It's a very basic lesson in Belt Fu but a very important one.

Nah I’m sticking with my favorite Italian pasta for factory design

I like how he added another coal belt so you can extend the furnace setup without giving up your main line

Perfect, but it will deplete my iron mines in no time 😂
Can't wait to return to the game after I finish my exams!!

Protip: For MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY, make this setup with 48 furnaces(24 on each side).
Here's the math behind this:
Yellow belt speed - 15 items/s
1 furnace smelts 0.316 iron/s
15 / 0.316 ~ 48 furnaces
Edit: it also easily upgrades to fill red belts, just replace the normal furnaces with steel ones

Really enjoy these shorts, I have just been getting into factorio again and this is the optimal way to quickly look up efficient designs. thank you 😘

Excellent thank you. Your tutorials are very straightforward and concise

You can optimize the medium poles into small poles if you group up every 3 inserters and then coppy the setup across the stack.

This would benefit from talking about math, items per second, how many machines can take per belt etc

While you do sound like you’re trying really hard not to wake up your parents in the other room, it is a great tutorial!

Your initial smelters def have medium electric poles because you def have steel at this point. Nice.

It's a nice furnace set up that i've done many times, but somehow I prefer coal and ore to not be on the same belt, and so I don't do it like this at all usually.

was bros mom asleep in the same room as he recorded this

For me it is easier to build this setup starting with the furnaces, then the belts/underground and splitters and lastly inserters and power poles.
Starting with the row of furnaces is a nice reference for where everything else goes.

I far prefer to make a confusing mess of maze like conveyors
