Kids indoors might be focusing on things close to them more than when they're outdoors. Prolonged close focus when very young can lead to myopia.

I'm 67 and so happy that I grew up in a time when kids were outside and it was safe to play outside. Went to the doctor and for the first time need glasses. 20/30 20/100. Yet can still get by without glasses.

I developed bit of myopia in Jr high because I loved to read for hours in dim light, especially under the Xmas tree lights. I stopped doing that and my eyes did not get worse.

I was outside all the time as a kid and rarely used electronics (I preferred books) yet had to get glasses at age 11 or 12 and I have the worst eyesight in my family. I eat healthy, work out, etc so I'm bummed I'm an outlier with my vision

That could be true...my sisyer got glasses at 12 and theres a history of it in family. Ive never needed them. I used to go outside more than her as she was a bit kf a geek in the 80s.

Holy smoke! Every kid I knew was outside every day of the year, barring terrible weather, and some of those kids are legally blind. They are literally so nearsighted that they are legally blind.

How badly off would they be if they had not been outside every day?
