Been saying this for years. God and science are not incompatible and God often uses science to achieve his means.

Three main critiques:

1. While it is true that the Hebrew word "yom" (day) can mean longer periods of time. But everywhere else in Scripture where a number is used, it means a literal day.

2. Notice the "evening and morning" after each day.

3. The Sabbath doesn't make much sense if the days that God made the earth aren't literal. God is very clear that seven days signifies for the week.

Science is our understanding of god's creation.

If we believe all of the other miracles of the bible like the flood, ressurrection, the plagues in egypt etc, then why is it such a stretch to believe a literal creation story

Many people here act like God only speaks literaly, completely forgetting that when He was incarnate as Man He often spoke in parables. The Bible is a divinely inspired work, absolutely, but we need to be mindful to understand that the text still needs to be interpreted, and if our interpretation disagrees with reality, then neither reality nor the Bible are wrong, only our interpretation is.

Good video, however there’s a lot of glaring issues that many comments already pointed out, but one I haven’t seen is Gen 1:30 “And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so”. So there couldn’t have been carnivorous animals before the fall of Adam since God specifically says he gave ALL life plants for food. Hence we can further support the idea that death came after Adam for ALL living things since before Adam animals wouldn’t eat each other and it was only after the fall that carnivorous animals arose. So evolution and natural selection couldn’t have happened before Adam since nothing would eat each other and we have fossil evidence of animals consuming each other

The fact that there’s death before sin does. It erodes the gospel message. Genesis even talk about the curse affecting all of creation. It wasn’t just man it changed. There weren’t even thorns.

Of two things I am sure
1) That there is a God.
2) That for whatever reason he despises when Wil Wheaton rolls dice.

when the bible mentions death entering through adam i believe it refers to spiritual death defined by the bible as the separation of humans(beings with the now image of God) from God due to Sin (what adam committed).

When God breathe his spirit in Adam we were to be with him eternally but eating from the tree of knowledge cause spiritual death to be the inevitable consequence

“For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15‬:‭21‬

Macro-evolution is absolutely, fundamentally incompatible with the Bible. If innumerable species lived and *died* by natural selection before the emergence of hominids, then death did not come into the world by human sin.

“But muh spiritual death!”
If the consequence of human sin was merely spiritual death, then Jesus needed only to die and resurrect spiritually.

The entire Bible, especially 1 Corinthians 15, explicitly states that death, physically and spiritually, is the consequence of human sin, which is why the Gospels, the Epistles, and the primitive church emphasized the physicality of Jesus’ death and resurrection.

“And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15‬:‭14‬

actually, in the end of each day Moses says “and there was evening, and there was morning”, why would he need to emphasize this if it was not about literal 24hour days?

I am going to have to disagree with your video respectfully. In Genesis 1, after each day in creation the bible specifically mentions the evening and the morning sequence which we know would equate to roughly 24 hours. Additionally, in Exodus 20 where God gives Moses the 10 commandments, if we specifically look at the commandment regarding the Sabbath, we are told to remember the 7th day and that we can work for 6 days in a (literal) week because God created the heavens and the earth within 6 days but rested on the seventh and hallowed it. We do not say that this is talking about a 7000 year cycle but rather a weekly cycle, this validates the understanding of the creation occurring within a 7 day period. I appreciate your videos nonetheless and think you do a good job sharing your understanding of the gospel with others.

I think when we talk about genesis, we miss the point every single time. We get caught up in “well did this really happen”, but we don’t go looking for what the story is trying to tell us. Genesis is the starting point of many of the Bible’s themes and patterns. But most people don’t notice because we’re too concerned about if the story could’ve really taken place.
