Yom is confined in genesis to be a literal 24hr day. We know this because the verses constrains yom (day) with morning and evening.

This isn't a new discussion. We have writings at least as far back as Origen on the Earth possibly being older than 6, 000 years. It's incredible that people are acting like this only started with modern science and evolution theory.

When you break it down, Genesis is gibberish.
The first three days were without a sun or moon, yet they had morning and evening. Plants were created before the sun, but cannot live without insects and the sun.

I'm a Christian but i believe in evolution. The earth was not made within 6 days. U have to interpret the bible in its cultural context. The authors were not trying to give a science class.

I have reason to believe that many Biblical scholars point out, same as Micheal Jones of Inspiring Philosophy, that Genesis isn’t supposed to be taken literally. That also stems from the Church Fathers and people before them. It could be that even if the timeline is wrong, it is only so from our perspective.

Book of Genesis describes God creating the Earth first, before anything else. And only on the 4th day were the stars created.
Im sorry, but this is completely irreconcilable with modern astronomy. It is your right and privilege to believe what you wish. But you cannot accept both as the truth.

God, Jesus fables, the book is just full of silly superstitions. The Catholics Bible is 72 books, btw. And it sure would help if you even knew who wrote the bible. It's okay though. No one does.

I think the correct way to handle the “days” in the Genesis book is to admit that we don’t know. These are divine spams of time that for us, humans, will not make sense. I think God described these time intervals in such a way that we could understand the message, to work and after the work is done, rest.
Now, when it comes to evolution, if you look at it as adaptation, sure it exists, but if you refer to it as the process described through macro evolution, there is no scientific evidence for it.

My imaginary friend created my whole world and everything in it. And he loves me. I mean, I have always taken the creation story as a retelling of a retelling.
Writings and records have always come after the oral tradition, and many words and interpretations have to be updated to the time period it was relevant to.

66 different books, yeah, OK. Written over 5000 years???? Maybe 500 years. On three different Surely they were all written around the middle east!
