a case of 'traumatic bursitis'
This patient presented to the ER with a 2 day onset of the findings on the pictures. She had an initial fall and scrape to her right elbow. Other the next 48 hours she develop redness and warmth extending proximally and distally across her arm. The rapid progression and the proximity to the joint made me treat her more aggressively with IV antibiotics and admission to the hospital with an orthopedic consult.

Had bursitis in my elbow and cellulitus developed. Drew with a pen and it crept quite fast along my arm. Went to emergency and spent 24hrs getting intravenous antibiotics to treat infection. Recommend getting it seen to asap, don’t wait.

This looks so painful. Is is like cellulitis? If that is the case, I know that dosent just hurt, ITS AWFUL PAINFUL!! Drawing on this is a way of telling if the infection is spreading. My brother had a motorcycle accident with road rash. It was red and painful. They drew the lines around it and was sent home with instructions in how to care for it until he seen the Orthopedic doctor. The next day it turns dark red and the redness went past the line marked by quite alot. He went back to the ER. He was admitted and was told it was septic. That is nothing to treat lightly. Very dangerous. Thanks for sharing ✌

You can get cellulitis in any part of your body my mom had it in her legs she was hospitalised for six weeks she had to be treated with intravenous antibiotics and ice packs because the swelling was that bad and her skin was on fire because of the infection cellulitis is not a pleasant illness

I had bursitis in both hips and had to have the bursa sacks removed. The right one had had infection at one point. Bursitis is a severely painful ( definition in dictionary) condition. And let me tell you, ” I know and it is!! It’s horrible.

I’ve had that before and I got admitted to the hospital for almost an whole week very painful. Even the ultrasound they did on my arm I would cry so bad. But I made it pop on it’s own I asked for heating pads everyday and I used and big bandage on it for when it drained so much pus came out everyday I would squeeze it and apply the bandaids and heat compress and repeat when I finally got discharged the following day the plug came out. And it was hole but it closed up on its own these hospitals will make you worse than how you came in
