In this video we are going to kick of a new series where we learn Blender modeling in Blender 3.0. Over the years I have tried to learn Blender a few times by following tutorials and it just never seemed to stick to the point where I could recreate the project without the videos. So through my experience learning Blender "my way" I wanted to pass on the approach of a user who knows CAD, specifically Fusion 360, and try to draw some common workflows between the two.

In this video we are going to talk about Parametric CAD, Modeling styles and then create a simple Form body in Fusion, and repeat the process in Blender. We are going to work in Blender without any shortcut keys and we will take it extremely slow.

For this series I plan to take the time to really dive into certain tools, play with them before we tackle a project. I don't know what that project is yet but it will be an attainable goal.

The end goal is to make you comfortable with Blender so you can tackle more complex projects without being overwhelmed. Some Youtube

Channels that I think do a great job with Blender:

Perfect! I've been trying for several months to learn blender by watching you tube videos, but i feel I really never make much progress. My own background is more of a autocad/fusion workflow, and trying to use this knowledge and apply it to blender seems problematic. This video series is just what i needed. Thank you!

Just to mindlessly leave a comment... I do not have a design background and have recently picked up Blender as I now have a computer that can competently run it. I feel as if I am having a similar experience to yourself regards running through a tutorial and wondering if I've gained any ability for myself other than an ability to follow along w/ someone else. However, the practice of better following along has allowed me to be more comfortable w/ the interface, and where things are generally- which really is very useful.
One nice thing I've been stumbling into recently are folks producing tutorials from a standpoint of having used tutorials, and trying to apply things learned outside of the "snow globe" of a car chase, or explosion tutorial.
I think you've done a nice job in this respect, and I will be spending some time with your other videos on the topic- thank you!

I just previously watched your video on Car Hood and Fender practice. It was so outstanding I decided that I would benefit from watching the entire playlist. I have had the same problem you have had with hot keys and stronly agree with your viewpoint. I believe that this is going to be most beneficial. There are so many really talented Blender people doing so many really terrible tutorials so it is really great to stumble across your playlist.

How cool are you! Ive been playing with Fusion 360 which is/was a learning curve in itself. Having followed a similar path watching many other video's I'm grateful to you for your efforts, Part 1 was a revelation in simplicity....onto part 2. Thank you for taking the time

Great that you do this series, as I am exactly at the same point like you with Blender. Mainly I do things parametric or not parametric in Fusion, but when I need a real textured surface on my models, I struggle, so I tried texture sculpting in Blender and Nomad Sculpt (iOS). But there are so many "missing links" when learning Blender, even there are tons vides out there.
So I am looking forward to your new series, as I can highly recommend the "Fusion 360 Forms Mastery Series" you have made here on you tube.

Great video! Thanks for teaching!

I have been using Fusion for several years and finished Maker's Tales' series on Blender x CAD last year.
After trying the long-awaited Pattern feature in the newly released extension, I think the real advantage Blender has over Fusion is surface pattern.
Fusion's ability of making complex pattern on a surface is weak, as you showed in your vid about the Product Extention, even with those new features, it is still weak.
Due to the nature of the two, it is nearly impossible to perfect Fusion using Blender.
So I guess Dynamo, now Dynamo Sandbox is the only hope for that purpose.

I’m in the same boat. Wondering if it’s really worth the effort.

I began with fusion last year. This year I will study blender. I'm sure. )) The question is: what will be after f360 and blender? In 2023.

Anyone know an inverse on this series? I'm a Blender novice, but I just use it for fun. If I could learn CAD I could actually use that to get a job lol
