A director at Treyarch once taught me, don't waste time trying to fix it and failing anyways. Do it over. The sooner you restart, the less work you have to redo.

Every model a client sends should be at least 8 million vertices large. The vertices should also overlap in a way which means the merge by distance function isn't usable without causing further problems.
