In this video, I have compiled a list of 10 things that elegant women do not do in public!
Elegance is about being remembered for the right things and not noticed doing things that could be seen as crass. Avoid these habits so that you don't inconvenience others and cause embarrassment to yourself and others.

So many wise reminders! My Mom had the "look" as a way to discipline us in public - we knew that look meant business once we got home.

And, yes, a thousand times yes to your advice about displays of affection in public. Something that is getting more common here in the U.S.--but no less uncomfortable to have to witness--is when a man will start rubbing his girl's back (or further) and then she starts nestling into him. This sort of behavior should be for your house only, and that only when no one else--even family--is around. This behavior is supposed to be just for the couple to enjoy--not for mum and dad to witness, not for siblings, not for children, not for friends, and certainly not for strangers.

I agree with everything you said. One more thing I do not like is couples fighting with each other in public or embarrassing one another with dirty laundry. My husband and I went out with a friend and her husband twice on a double date. They bickered the whole time making my husband and I very uncomfortable. Now when she asks us to go out again, we always say "No". She can't understand why, and she gets all passive aggressive with me. That alone is strike two. But I have to say about fighting on social media. I never fight with women, but men seem to want to fight if I leave an opinion and I just can't leave this bullying behavior unchallenged. I feel like they are just trying to push women of the internet and keep women silent and afraid. I can't tolerate that abuse, and I will stick up for myself no matter what.

Always keep a small floss and a few cough candies in your bag. I don't know about others, but there is nothing worse than that little tickle in the throat that inevitably turns into a full blown coughing fit! :)

Not talking to myself in public is a struggle for me! I live alone and do most everything in my life alone…so I am constantly talking to myself, and I do catch myself on occasions talking to myself in public. Luckily nobody has answered me (yet) 🤪

I'd add that if your child is acting badly in public, a discreet "We will be discussing this behavior when we get to the car" is good enough, and then, of course a follow-up when you eventually leave the store/restaurant/etc. Always a follow-up though: never, never tell a child there will be consequences when there won't be any; (children are smart and will learn how to manipulate quickly.)

I would like to add one to the list. One of my pet peeves is when people blow their nose in public and most especially in a restaurant while others are trying to enjoy their meal. Please go to the restroom to eliminate any bodily fluids and/or solids! If you need to dab at your drippy nose, then by all means do so, but we absolutely do not need to hear or see the removal of anyone’s mucus... EVER!

I would also like to amend the public displays of affection point. In general I think it wise to refrain from too much passionate or “intimate” PDA. However, I don’t see anything wrong with a hug or sweet little kiss when meeting up with friends and family, especially when you haven’t seen each other for a long time! I think it near impossible at airports when being reunited with loved ones to not at least give a great big welcoming hug and kiss! Probably best to refrain from the kisses getting too passionate and hugs merging into groping or any type of inappropriate touching! However, showing love and affection is not something we should try to hide. It’s a good thing and a beautiful thing! Being overtly sexual should most definitely be reserved for private spaces only! I see a distinct difference.

These are all quite basic, it's appalling that they need to be taught again.
Thank you Vivienne

Thank you for the tips. I think it is also not one of the traits of an elegant, classy, modest woman to show too much breast flesh in public and social media.

I thought "Elegance" was not associated with black culture, because we were always expected to be loud, expressive, ect., which is not the case with every personality, regardless of ethnicity. Finding your channel was really a blessing.

I am glad to hear you are Ghanaian. I believe in disciplining, but not in public. Remember the eye does magic to discipline in public.

Hi Vivienne! Great content as always! Would you consider making a video on host etiquette? What are the golden rules in your opinion when organizing and hosting a get together or event? Thank you!
