Like others have said, this would be soooo much more help if you provide alternate looks to the bad look.

One of the things that makes a woman truly elegant: Books, self confidence, being musical, articulate, knowing social graces and being kind and generous. These are rules for elegance that people dont mention and should mention regularly!

I live in New England farm country so I'm not giving up my 1940s Woolrich plaid jacket! It's great for pumpkin festivals and trips to the farmers market. I think the secret to elegance is to wear what is appropriate for the occasion, and HOW something is worn is just as important as WHAT is worn

For any ladies watching, "basic" is actually a style aesthetic (also mine) so definitely don't feel discouraged. It also depends on how old you are, where you live, what the "style culture" is like there, etc. For instance, the skinny jeans and Chelsea boot combo is my go-to church outfit; it's comfortable, casual yet classy, not crazy and not lazy, and it makes me happy, which is all that matters!

It still boils down to how you carry yourself. I’ve seen very classless women in Gucci and Prada.

As for the long knitted top/dress, I’m reminded of Tim Gunn saying on Project Runway, “if you have to ask if a clothing item is a dress or a top, it’s always a top.”

I'm from the UK. Every single thing you've said not to wear, I actually love. I say, wear whatever you want.

Look appropriate for every activity...My Grandma used to say this and now Mom preaches this.

I would really like these videos to be more like: what NOT to wear in/on ____ and what to wear INSTEAD. ALL in 1️⃣

It really depends on the area you are from that affects your style. For example, in the southern part of the US it is VERY hot during the spring, summer, and fall (especially the summer). That's why, if you go there during this time of the year, you will see a lot of people wearing not very "fashionable" clothing. We are literally MELTING from the heat! We tend to lean towards your basic styles, because they tend to be cooler and easier to wear in sweltering temperatures.

As a Canadian, I will never not wear plaid in fall.

Wear something practically affordable, comfortable, made you feel special and beautiful in your own eyes.

Reminder : don't compare yourself with others, each of us have our own time on our own phase. We will achieve great things too, but first we have to accept that we're unique in our own way and most importantly we should stop comparing ourselves because it just slows down our process and stops us from really fulfilling our own true potential. Let's keep working hard and take a break too! ✨🦋

I think class means more attitude than wardrobe. Looking down your nose at people is not classy, it is snobby.

I bought a ivory color teddy coat from aritzia and I got it tailored and now I’m obsessed with it. I didn’t want to get rid of the coat because it was boxy because it’s so practical for winter weather in New Jersey.

Elegance is not about the clothe you wear or how you wear it, its all bout attitude, personality, respect to yourself and others

Tip #2 is so spot on. I bought this coat a few months ago, wore it to dinner, but didn’t realize until looking at the single photo of the night: I looked three times my size. I have not worn it since.
