My dad did it on my arm when I was little..
I screamed ..I thought it cut my arm off.

Back in the 60's we used to do that in school. But we made it look as though the string of yarn would go through our necks. 😂

Very old illusion, but its a timeless illusion for a reason.

The better version is done with two rubber bands by hand, you do your move as you show it is locked in, and when done right people haven't noticed its already separated, then using their expectation you can create the illusion of slowly passing through.

The elasticity matters, it will greatly increase the speed with which the bands will move, the rest is showmanship.
