My great grandmother's hair was down to her feet. She only washed it once a week in a creek and only used water and she kept her hair in a bun even while sleeping. I only saw her hair down once because all of us women in the family asked her to take it down for us to see. It came down past her feet and trailed behind her. When she was 7 her head was shaved and she never cut her hair again. She was in her 70's when I saw her hair.

These women in the pictures were not only rich, but purposefully photographed *because* of their hair. Ankle-length hair is not only difficult to achieve but rare in terms of terminal lengths. The average max of terminal length is usually 36in (hip-length). Yes, there are some special techniques like using combs and brushes that distribute oil, lack of metals and other chemicals in washing products, and hairstyle that these women used, but they didn't have any special secret or something that we don't know. Plus, Victorian and Edwardian women in the photo weren't immune to modern styling; they had hair pieces, ironing rods, and perms developed back then. It's just that youthfulness was associated with long romantic hairstyling, and many sought out ways to keep it as long as possible. They'd avoid the same stuff we do when we want to grow hair, like no heat styling and wearing protective hairstyles.

Diet and genes also play an important part in hair health

I always had long hair to my butt, and I am achieving that again by caring for it in a new, wonderful way.

I stopped washing my hair daily. Now i wash my hair maybe 2 x a month. Maybe. I let my hair tell me when it needs washed. It never gets "greasy". It doesnt smell. I use protective styles. I brush my hair daily to move the natural oils. I went from over dyed dead hair to having to cut it a few times a year to stop sitting on it.

Your features are one of the most diverse. You have a soulful voice and your eyebrows are very pronounced. You are a child of the planet! 🙌 Don’t ever deny that part of you, it is your greatest gift!

I must be a rare breed my hair grows so fast unreal fast. I had a short bob cut I mean to my chin and above short last December it's now September and my hair is almost to my elbows almost to the bottom of my ribs. I always got mad about it because I get roots I'm not joking in maybe 2 to 3 weeks. I have to dye it every 6 weeks if I want it to look good ( I don't I only dye it twice a year for the health of my hair. My cousin owns a salon she always said she's jealous I tested it once cut it to where it was touching my shoulders in March and by October it was to my belly button. I have to pluck my brows every two days. It even stuns doctors. I wash it once a week. I usually like keeping it shorter. But my boyfriend loves long hair so I told him I would let it grow to see how far we can get it. Last time I had a major cut we cut 28 and half inches there was a older women in the salon when my cousin cut it all the woman cried lol. It was down almost to the bend of my knees when we cut it. I'm going to not bleach it I haven't since December of 2021 so I can let it grow as far as I can handle it and donate it I'm hoping I can get it close to my ankles and I will make sure it 100% goes to cancer wigs! It will be virgin hair dye wise. And I try to hardly ever touch heat to it hair dryer or straighten or heat curling! I hope I can come back to this comment and let everyone know id love to make a video of the journey and the day I cut it all of again!

I did the wolfcut in the first lockdown then promised not to cut my hair for 5 years to see how long it would get, a month ago my longest length was down to my tail bone allowing me to cut my layers off, its now almost waist length, its thick and curly and I hardly ever brush or wash it, just finger detangle but i do want a boar bristle brush now after watching one of your videos.
