iPhone 6/7/8/X loose lightning cable port fix

A little tutorial for a quick and easy fix for a loose lightning cable port. Just a thin layer of glue to use as a shim to press the charger downward onto the ports contacts firmly. Make sure that glues dry and enjoy not having to mess with your cord for 5 minutes struggling to get it into "that sweet spot" haha

you should be only using apple cables to begin with. aftermarket cables aren't to spec (meaning size). a few years back when i had the iPhone 5s. i was having the same issue. and at the time i had 2 mfi certified cables i bought for me and my girl at 711. they seemed to work fine for a few weeks. and this happened. i then at work used my apple charging cable for my work iPad and it worked fine. those cables are garbage. not to mention they ruin your battery. my iPhone 5/5s/6 batteries were all ruined. from the 6s and onward i only used apple cables.

Ok so I tied this and it works.😌 but if you don’t have super glue like I did, I find a really thin layer of nail glue also works

If you don't have glue, then wrap about 2 inches of clear tape around the area. It will work for now until you get the glue. Thanks for the tip!

This Works! I was having a heck of a time charging my iPhone 6. I tried all the trick you see about cleaning out the charging port and that didn't help. Tonight at 10 pm I glanced at my phone and saw 2 important messages from work as I go to retrieve my phone dies again and I can't even get any of my chargers to work for just a minute or two. Luckily I found your video I couldn't find my little tube of gorilla glue but I did have an old tube of Crazy Glue- and one of the generic chargers applied a very light coat waited 2 minutes and it worked! Grabbed one of the lightning calves applied a light coat let it dry now they both work!

I was ready to just get a new phone because I was so frustrated- Thanks for the tip!

Mine doesn't just wiggle up and down, it wiggles side to side in the lighting cable port also.

Adding to the comments below, I have been suffering with a loose port for months and having to jiggle the cord constantly to make the phone charge. I just did what Ladacris 909 suggested below and boom - cured. I did it bit by bit, mostly with little bits of scotch tape and a little bit of dust came out with each dip. Then a very gentle touch with a small extended paper clip and more dust came out. Tiny bits each time, but it added up to a lot. My cable port now is snug and tight.

Treymay10 I for one never comment on many things but I have to leave you one and Thank You for saving my sanity! I have been having issues for nearly 6 weeks, mostly wrapping the cord around the phone and holding it in place with a binder clip to charge and that's if I got lucky. But after following your instructions, I'm happy to report it worked like a charm! So thanks for your video, I do appreciate it!!!

My nail glue dried out and I couldn't find gorilla glue in our house. I found someone in the comments say clear tape works. IT DOES!

I used two strips on top of each other on one side and I saved a of money now 😭 Almost had my charging port replaced and I've purchased way too many cables already thinking they were the problem as well.

Thanks so much for this video and everyone's testimonies 🙏🏽

So, my phone the post wiggles from side to side. The port is really loose. I get what you are saying/doing to get a charge, just wanna know how you’d fix my issue. Thank you.

This worked for me. I used the Gorilla brush on shown, which is $4-5 at stores here. It only took a single light coat on the one side for a really snug fit. Almost too snug but I suspect it will wear some with use. The video mentions grinding or shaving it down if too thick but not sure what you’d use as the abrasive. Maybe an emory board like is used on fingernails? Don’t know, didn’t try. I let the cable dry for an hour to be safe and cause super glue always seems to take longer than they say.
