This is a pretty creative idea, but it’s kind of dangerous. Use electrical tape instead or just get a new charger.

Another way which is much easier is to use electrical tape!:)

Rather than using a rigid plastic, it would be better to melt the rubber from a similar cord if you have an old one lying around (a obsolete charger cord from an old phone, etc). I’ve found electrical tape eventually slides off and leaves a gummy residue.

Don't do this,

1. Chargers cost like £5
2. As long as you turn off your charger and don't leave it on fabric surfaces, it won't have enough power travelling through to start a fire if your plug at the end of it has a fuse in.
3. This is a good way to get carbon monoxide poisoning if repeated or not done in a ventilated space.

Not safe buy a new one don’t put tape around either if you can’t afford one just don’t put anything around it but make sure your not around water or anything that can cause charge

Just use heat shrink tubing. Slip it on and heat it up. It's way safer and will actually work. That plastic cap will cause friction and might actually cause the wires inside to break.

Lol this is what electrical tape and/or heat-shrink sleeves are for. They have the added benefit of not having plastic fumes.

Seriously people, don't melt plastic in an enclosed and poorly ventilated area. Breathing that stuff will melt your brain without any fun high.

This is actually much better than electrical tape!
Electrical eventually wears off and leaves you with a gunky gooey charger. The only thing I would add to this video is applying more melted plastic until you cover the the top right before the piece that’s actually inserted in the phone that way the wire won’t bend and cause wear n tear.

I bought my original charger from Apple about 4 years ago in £25.I believe Apple be charging £30 for original charger now.They used to give them free with new phone before
Use this technique carefully and I guarantee you it will work, save you £30. Cheap and copy chargers affect you phone life as well
