Years later and I see comments from Christians like "haha he got destroyed!!" or "his reaction was priceless!" and I think they are failing to see the bigger picture of these debates. We are called to win souls, not arguments. We shouldn't belittle people that disagree with us, rather pray for them and encourage them to change.

Them: Why does God love slavery?
An entire book in the bible dedicated to God freeing an entire race of slaves: am I a joke to you?

he says slave trading was condemned..however, only the kidnapping of people was condemned and This law applies to the Jewish people. Elsewhere it tells Jews they can buy slaves from their neighboring countries.

CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN THIS to me: "Your slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves”. It's not a rhetorical thing, it just seems to contradict what Frank is saying and quoting.

The look on that guy's face at the end is absolutely priceless! I've never seen an atheist look so abjectly crestfallen! Haha!

1:18 You are wrong Frank Turek. Slavery in the bible in condoned. It is not a mean to pay un a debt. You can own people as property and pass them as property to your children.

Frank references Exodus 21:20 here which doesn't seem to bad (if you can accept owning another human as property) but doesn't reference the very next verse. Beat your "human" all you want as long as your "human" doesn't die immediately, you are in the clear. Great life lesson god.
Read your bible folks, it is your worst enemy regarding your faith.
Exodus 21
20 “Anyone who beats their male or female slave with a rod must be punished if the slave dies as a direct result,  21 but they are not to be punished if the slave recovers after a day or two, since the slave is their property.

I am a 60 year old preacher's kid and grew up in the church. I find it interesting that he didn't talk about the verses where slavery was not voluntary and how you were allowed to beat your slave to within an inch of their life without fear of punishment if the slave didn't die. The Israelites were also allowed to have slaves (including children - I wonder what debt they had to pay) from countries that they conquered. It does seem that slavery is condoned in the Bible. I am just questioning things, not saying I am not a believer. The context in my examples is when God was giving out his rules or laws. Women who were not virgins on their wedding nights could be stoned. No consequence for men, of course. People with missing limbs, bad skin, dwarves, etc. were not allowed to go into the tent to worship. Even in the New Testament it talks about slavery and how your slaves are to be treated. I don't know what to think of the way he answers questions. I have watched quite a few of these and sometimes I find him rude and other times he really doesn't answer the question, but just asks questions back.

Dr. Michael Shermer needs to understand WHAT Christianity believes before he makes an argument against it.

The fact that Christians claim that god is “unchanging” and then also claim that “it’s in the old testiment”. So god changed his mind? Also...Jesus said “slaves obey your masters”..

destroying a man so hard must be a sin

And 6th, slaves were all colors and races. Something that seems to be over looked quite often.

Let us pray for that atheist man. Because he is like what we once were, not aware of Biblical truth.
