Historybound, destination: the Edwardian era - Sewing an Edwardian style Walking Skirt

Показать описание
I have been longing to make an Edwardian style skirt for a while: long, swooshy and luscious but a little practical as well. And I have accumulated quite a few 1900's style blouses that need to be worn...

Luckily for me, Desirée Theunissen from Designed by Desiree has been working on a skirt pattern which she let me test out! Some parts of this project are very historically inspired, and other parts are more of a modern interpretation. As always, #historicallywingingit !

Let me know what you think of this new project in the comments below, and subscribe if you want to see more videos like this. Also check out Designed by Desiree through these links:

The secret Santa videos were such a brilliant idea, they’re leading me down a rabbit hole where I get to discover other wonderful craftspeople.

I find your videos quite refreshing. The sounds of a workspace without the talking overtop are refreshing. I feel like there’s someone in my space with me without the constant sound of voices. I find it tiring sometimes. Thank you for your different take on videos and for sharing your skills and sense of humour.

I've never had the slightest interest in 1890s fashion, but you make it look so appealing! Beautiful job!

My grandmother has the same sewing machine. Watching this video is making me tear up from the nostalgia of the sounds :')

Just found you thru Bernadette Banner/Costube. Watching your video style--- ASMR and patient attention to sewing detail, not to mention that delightful chirp of ye olde Singer, is as comforting as sinking into a warm bath while eating spoonfuls of one's favorite ice cream. Of course one should always carry a jumbo sized pretzel in the pocket of their Edwardian walking skirt. It's what pockets are for. Subscribed. Looking forward to

What a neat closure! ❤️ Also I'm not so critical of my own Singer squeaks anymore😂

I discovered you tonight and I'm binge watching and devouring all the comments! I too, love your filming style. I'm American and until 3 years ago I worked with immigrants, so while I long to hear your lovely accent I also know that it is hard mental work to 'translate' to my native American accent. I would focus on listening and miss all the visual learning. You are very wise.

Your skirt is so beautiful! Love the flat front / back fullness in the Edwardian skirt design; truly flattering and feminine.
Good thing you do get the garbage & recycling bins in or we would hardly know what time we were in. Yaay big pockets!

I like how the video doesn't have voice over. Very artistic. Lol and the pretzel in the pocket was awesome.

I’ve had my sewing machine in mothballs for years but now my New Year resolution is going to be making my own clothes again. This is entirely due to you. Thank you for the fab video your outfit looks lovely on you and I loved the hilarious surprise of the Pretzel in the pocket. Those shoes are really great, will be saving my pennies for something similar, much love from England

I busted out laughing when you pulled that honking big pretzel out of your pocket, now that is a very decent pocket! What a beautiful skirt, thanks for this, I love the meditative focus and attention to detail. Very soothing.

I really love this skirt, also your type of presentation. Had to watch the video 3 times to get my fill. Thank you for making it! Now it is just for me to to try to contact Desireé and beg, that she would sell me a copy of her pattern.
