IN WHICH our intrepid recreatirix makes (yet another) Edwardian Walking Skirt! Welcome back to the land of sewing. I don't know about you, but the thing I really needed for my witchy, Victoir-edwardian history bounding wardrobe is a basic walking skirt. And since I just happened to have some heavy-weight linen laying around.... Here we are!

Thank for this to help me break my "doom scrolling " . It is a lovely skirt.

'Turn this cabbage into coleslaw' was probably my favourite line. Wonderful video!

I am drinking a lovely huge mug of "Get Happy" from Republic of Tea and carefully ripping stitches out of a sleeve due to the armscye being too small. Your video was wonderful to watch and listen to while doing this. Bren, of course, is always a treat!

I'm not drinking anything because it's bedtime, so you are my bedtime story tonight. Thanks for making it a pleasant one & the skirt is lovely.
Goodnight

Historical adequacy is more important than historical accuracy, anyway!
I love the idea of using the selvage as a kind of waist tape/stabilizer. That's a great use of something that might otherwise go to waste!
My teas of choice right now are: David's Tea's "Buddha's Blend" and Tazo's Earl Grey.

Please make a video about tea, you make every blend you drink sound so soothing and cosy! ☕️

I have been putting off a couple things that require that “coleslaw” because the scissors hurt my hands so bad but I love that rotary cutter trick!!

What's better than to start a sunday morning with a nice cup of coffee, a croissant and your new video. Aren't walking skirts the best? I love them. Give production assistant Bran a short cuddle and...yeah first video 2021! 🥐🥐🥐

I'm drinking loose-leaf black tea with some orange peel and rosehips added in and sweetened with jaggery, while I flatten the seams on my very first pair of medieval hose!

Completely off topic- but you’re the only other person I’ve seen whose greys start basically where a headband sits. I have that too- only a very few at the hairline, but I have a full headband (ear to ear) of salt and pepper. So if I have my hair parted, it’s like a streak, but if it’s pulled back, it looks like I don’t have any grey at all. It’s unusual, and so it’s nice to see I’m not the only one with an unusual greying pattern. 😊

Mostly I'm drinking water, but when I want a hot drink it's often Twinings infuse Rose Lemonade (I drink it hot usually but it is a cold infusion).

Your skirt come out so lovely and your assistant is adorable.

I just got back from a lovely late night walk, so it's the hot cider for me! I'll try to do all the wintery things I can while it's cold.

It's never occurred to me to do the waistband trick you did, I've always just taken in my linen things as they stretched out.

At the moment, drinking medium roast coffee with sf vanilla cream....current tea of choice is English Breakfast with vanilla & honey.💜 Beautiful work!

Like that use of selvedge. Will be curious to hear how it works.

A lovely background... mine this morning is Lady Grey, no milk, one sugar.

Drinking milk at the moment with my spinach omelet for supper. Nothing too exciting. My Shadow (black cat) was very interested in watching Bran 'help' you with your drafting. What a good way to use a selvedge. No waste, I like it. The skirt looks wonderful. Just enough booty enhancement with the bustle pad. Thanks for sharing. Take care.

Please let PA Bran know his stretches are epic and greatly appreciated. Drinking water, because hydration. As to the pockets and the twill tape to help hold them up better, is that also sewn down on its way to the waistband or does it lay loose between top of the pocket and the waist? Inquiring minds must know (cuz I gotta reinforce my own pants pockets eventually!). Love the final result. Excellent lines, very flowy!
