2022 Hyundai IONIQ 5 review by The Straight Pipes. The 2022 IONIQ5 is putting down 320 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque from a 77 kWh battery and 2 electric motors. At $62,824 CAD, would you take it over the Model Y, BOLT EUV, KIA EV6, VW ID 4 or the Mustang MACH E?

I'm that guy at the Flo station! You guys are awesome! Thanks for the mention!

All fair points by you guys regarding charging infrastructure. I will say though, despite the occasional issue I've had with the 10% of non-home charges, I'm absolutely certain the savings have been worth it. For me, I was paying $1000/month due to my commute. So I'd say it's very much dependant on personal requirements.

PS - my wife and I love you guys now! Subbed and followed on IG!

Totally agree that it's the design of the year. Such a cool looking machine! If it was actually hatchback size rather than SUV size, it'd be even cooler (to me). Also, props to you guys for sharing the truth about the problems with the charging infrastructure in this province.

BTW, one of the main reasons that the Ioniq 5 doesn't have a bigger frunk is because the wheels are pushed further out than other EVs so you get more space in the cabin. I'll take that trade off any day of the week

This and EV6 are design of the year. Kia/Hyundai are absolutely killing it with their design.

I've never wanted a Kia / Hyundai so much.

One of the only EVs I’m considering at the moment if I had to upgrade.
This is coming someone who before used to say I would never be caught driving a Hyundai in my lifetime. But it feels like they are FINALLY understanding what the customers want and like.

I saw one on the road the other day and you guys are right, this car is massive compared to what I thought it would be size wise after seeing the concept and final design photos. I also love the fact that this car looks like something a kid would've drawn back in the 80s if someone handed them a pen and a piece of paper and said "hey kid, draw a car from 2022".

The designer of this car certainly deserves an award..It looks classy, yet modern..that's a rare combination..🥰😍🥰😍

Saw one of these driving in person last night and it looks really cool. Definitely bigger than pictures would have you think, but not as big as some reviewers say it is. Has a pretty cool road presence.

I love the simplicity in the design both inside and out

No frunk because they extended the wheelbase with flat floor by pushing everything under the hood. Not a bad compromise imo.

My wife and I just saw one of these yesterday. It's wild that this is like the 3ed EV I've seen on the road and then 3 days later see reviews of.

This is pretty close to the ideal electric car. No rear wiper is a bit criminal. I'm keen on the Kia EV6 version, possibly the GT version, depending on price of course. Two dollars per liter gas here in Canada starts that conversation.

As a daily Uber driver with an electric car. If you have a 100+amp panel in your home you can easily install a 7-11kwh wall unit or just a 14-50 NEMA outlet to use for your vehicle which can fully charge a car within 4-6 hours depending on the vehicle. Installing something like that at home is probably $1000 more or less depending on multiple factors of course.
Then 90-95% of general car owners will only charge at home like you mentioned and makes things very convenient and the rare occasion you need to use a charger on your road trip it is the wild wild west because stations and the infrastructure that we have is so unreliable and behind the rest of the world which I hope changes soon.
Most people use an app called plug share just to see all the chargers on your map and at some point many gas stations, on route will have chargers, Tesla charging stations will open up to all vehicles you just need an adapter and account so things will improve it is just taking a very long time

Thank you for the honest review! Everyone is praising this car as if it’s gonna take over the world but this review really shows what’s wrong with it and hopefully these problems will be fixed fast !

Was pretty blown away when I first saw this from a company I never looked twice at. Such a cute little stunner!

I love the fact that this is the only channel that takes adaptive cruise control seriously cuz it really matters i would choose between a GLE or X5 if one has a better adaptive cruise and better lane centering

Great review guys! Completely agree I think it’s one of the best looking cars of the year, and I hope for 2023 they make some of the adjustments and improvements that you mentioned including the rear view wiper. The Canadian charging network needs a serious improvement plan over the next couple years to accommodate for the influx of electric cars that are coming on the roads. I personally like Lucid Blue but colour is always personal preference :)

It's amazing that charging is STILL such a problem for non-Teslas. I don't understand how they can screw something up which may at most as far as moving parts goes, has a pump and a fan. Insane.

Saw this on the road yesterday. It's huge! It looked almost like a hatchback minivan
