Braking distance is dependent on weight of car and friction from tyre. The lighter the car the shorter the braking distance. The lighter and wider the tyres, even shorter braking distances.

Actually Volvo is so underrated, Volvo was first who actually introduced seat belts in cars and outside airbags for safety accident victim. Also, they did pretty well improvements in interior airbags to minimise post-accident airbag expenses and more efficient designs.
