There’s choice a plenty when it comes to electric family cars... so we got the lot together for the mother of all knockout finals. Recently we used Tesla’s newly arrived Model Y as the rallying flag, and gathered to it everything that could potentially be seen as a rival. They span a price range of £35–65 grand, or about £400 a month to £1,000 and include– deep breath – the Kia EV6, Jaguar I-pace, Audi Q4 E-Tron, BMW iX3, Polestar 2, Volvo XC40 Recharge, Skoda Enyaq IV, Ford Mustang Mach-E GT, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and VW ID.4. So which EV should you buy? Well, let Top Gear Magazine’s Ollie Marriage help you whittle them down.

He's a paid motor journalist, doing a test of family EV's and at the end says "choose the one that works for you"? What an utter waste of 10mins

He removed the X3 from the line cause it was 'conventional and practical'. Then he removed the polestar cause it was less practical. Then went to the last three cars and all he seeks is practically. 😆 🤣 😂 😹

i don't agree with the "buy the biggest possible car you can, because of that once a year holiday" sentiment in this video. we need to get away from that as a society

This was the most absurd discussion I've ever seen about EVs. First example, ioniq 5s boot is small at 527 but mustang's is big at 402 🤔 and then, where are the arguments for charging capability (Tesla 250 kwh, Kia 235 kwh, ioniq 225 kWh, Mustang 130 kWh and Skoda 125 kWh), efficiency or weight. Yeah the mustang has a big battery 90+ kWh but has the efficiency of a barn door and when the battery drains it takes for ever to charge... This review is just... Wow

Obviously, this guy doesn't know what he is talking about. Conventional doesn't mean it is bad, it probably is the best. It all goes down to taste.

This is trosh - discounting the Jag as you wouldn’t want the interior getting messy? And then proclaiming a 500l boot is too small, and choosing the Hyundai then moaning about all the things wrong with it that the Kia rectified. These tests should be objective, but it doesn’t seem that way.

Dismissed the XC40 because the Polestar looks better, then dismissed the Polestar because it’s not an SUV like the XC40 😵‍💫

This is not even a comparison test…it is just OM’s emotional response

Let's see... In your opinion, the EV6 looks better and drives better, but let's give it to the Ioniq 5 since it has the "brighter, lighter, airy interior." 🙄

Disregarding the Volvo and safety features because it looks like something "your aunt would drive" while testing for good family vehicles. Sounds legit.

What a rigged and effectively, pointless, “review”. The elimination process made absolutely no sense. He chose the Polestar over the XC40 and then complained about the fact that it can’t fit a family.

Can’t we get someone with sense, like Chris Harris, doing these reviews?

Strange review - no final verdict in the end after 10 minutes of talking - discounting the Jag because you don’t want the seats getting messy?? And the EV6 even though you thought it was better than the Ioniq 5??

You dismissed the "car of the year 2022" immediately! So thereby you disqualified yourself.

Really ....'choose the one best for you'....
if are comparing something atleast try to give a final verdict for gods sake

As mentioned by many, that was the most arbitary, subjective and contradictory scoring criteria

Most important criteria for many
1. Price
1. Range (and efficiency)
2. Practicality
4. Futureproofing/Charging speed

Applying that has the Ioniq/EV6 right up there

Love how they don’t talk range and recharge times. The most important thing

For those of you that don't have the "return youtube dislike" extention, this video has 2.5X more dislikes than likes and for those wondering why would that be, it's because it is that bad.

Ollie my man... that's a truly flippant way to eliminate finalists. A higher standard of automotive journalism is what we've come to expect from TG.

This is probably the worst review ever. Almost everything is unjustified. And you kick great cars out for the smallest of reason that no one cares about.

“The best EV right now?” “Choose the one that’s right for you”
