How Thanos Got the First Power Stone Explained by Russo Brothers in Infinity War

How did Thanos get the Power stone, the first infinity gem collected in Avengers Infinity War. Why wasn't the story put into the movie? The Russo brother Joe, along with screenwriters Markus and McFeely, explain just why and how Thanos got it.

I remember when I first saw Infinity War in theaters. When Thanos lifted his gauntlet to show that he had the Power Stone, my heart dropped as I imagined the horrors he must have committed on Xandar.

There's also the possibility of a Nova movie opening with the attack on Xandar

Obviously he had pizza time before he went to Xandar, allowing him to easily obtain the power stone, that is why he was so powerful. Without pizza time, the gauntlet is powerful, but with pizza time, the user is invisible.

FYI the Chitauri and the Outriders are different species, Chitauri are those in the Battle of New York, Outriders were seen only during the Battle of Wakanda.

I would have liked a few one second shots during the opening credits of Thanos and his team, just to see what it looked like. Maybe the first shot is Thanos heading to the planets surface. The second is Thanos walking into the vault with his children (a guard falls to the floor, battle sounds outside). The third; The stone is placed in the gauntlet. The fourth shot is of the devestation as the Thanos entourage boards a transport (blaster bolts still seen in background - the fight still rages) and finally the last shot is of Thanos directing the crew "to Asgard". All that would fit in between title cards and opening credits and THEN we start with Thor.

Wow now i know. Would be nice though once the MCU introduces 'The Man Called Nova' in the MCU future films, tells the untold Xandar story by Richard Rider (Nova) who survived, telling and showing the actual battle after the Guardians of the Galaxy had left Xandar in the first movie at the end, where the Chautari soldiers and or the Black Order, shows up out of nowhere with Thanos fighting the Nova Corps to fight their way through to get the Power stone in the Nova Corps weapons vault and retrieving the Power stone for Thanos before Thanos destroyed Xandar. Which led the first Infinity War scene with Thanos taking the Tesseract crushing it to pieces to get to the Space stone after Thor Ragnarok.

That would be a good story and timeline for the Nova MCU film to fill in the void of how Thanos were able to get the Power stone before meeting up with Thor, Hulk, Loki, Heimdall and the Asgardian people in space at the end of Thor Ragnarok, which makes sense. Hope the MCU makes this story line happen.

This is good a way to bring in Nova here’s why:


Thonas going to the Nova Force to retrieve to Power stone, a big fight between Thonas’s army and the Nova Force. The Nova Force can not beat Thonas’s big army so the call for the Nova Squad. Even with the Novas they can’t beat Thonas’s big army, the fight to the last one. Before The last one falls he or she throughs her to earth. Landing in a field which is picked up. After receiving this power the person (Kid, Young Man) has flash backs to what happened. Then his home town is attacked by Abe Jenkins a person who created a suit and has a force of troops. Helpless because the avengers are gone the New Nova has to fight off the enemy and has to fight because he lost his dad or mother to the snap.

I can say I support the decision to skip Xandar. It added an element to the movie where we actually he already attacked Xandar and got the stone" and it left a bit to the imagination and also a bit of mystique to Thanos and his minions.
