Lady Death brought him back to life with more power, and tasked him to destroy half of everything since there were more people alive than there are dead

However, Thanos came to learn of the Infinity Stones, and realized its the only way to accomplish his task

But once he got them, he was fucking around, gloating to all around him, claiming he is now equal to Death and thus they can be together

Mephisto even told Thanos that Lady Death is not his equal, she is now beneath him, and she hates the idea

Once Thanos realized that she'll respect him when he completes his task, he snapped, and he regained dignity in her eyes

But Thanos kept going on and on and on about his power, in which Death lost interest since his arrogant nature was unappealing
