No idea how old AlphaDestiny is, but I'd guess i've got like ten to fifteen years on him. My point is I've been lifting for close to 30 years and can't think of anything he's said in the plethora of videos of his i've watched that I don't agree with. Now I'm also a lifetime natty so I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but I'm very impressed with the knowledge he's gained in the time he's been training. Of course, 20 years ago youtube wasn't a factor, but thank god it is now. Young lifters, take advantage and watch his videos and take notes....you'll save yourself years of trial and error.

I'm training with weighted calisthenics for now 7 months ( specially pull up, dips and push up) and you're totally right :
My front lever increased for 5-6 second, I can do more muscle up in one set and the craziest thing is that I can put more weight on the bench press than my friend who is in the gym since 3 years only because I do weighted dips. And of course I made more muscle gains than just train with my own body weight. So I totally agree with you.

I went from 170lbs to 240lbs with calisthenics. Haven't lifted weights for about 15 years. Pullups dips pushups rows ring curls ring tricep extensions squats lunges and various versions of each, using different leverages, rep/set ranges and tempos, 4-5x a week. Here in NYC you can go to any park and find guys doing calisthenics who are bigger and stronger than most guys lifting weights at the gym.

Hey Alex, here's a tip for your weighted pushups - if you put the dipping bars on the lowest pin height on the rack, and rest your feet on the bench, you can effectively perform neutral grip weighted pushups and get a really great stretch at the bottom!

Could not agree more. I trained calisthenics for 4 months and i have seen gains i have never seen in 1 year of weight training.

Perfect mix of gym lifts, weighted calisthenics and high-volume calisthenics is where it's at.

I love weighted push ups! They feel much more natural, I can rest-pause them, I can fully retract and protract my scapula. If you are reading this and you prefer bench press, by all means, do what you love, but I’m definitely a weighted push up guy

The progress you can make with weighted calisthenics is unreal. I could barely hold a straddle planche for 2 seconds but just after a week of doing zenetti flies I was able to hold a good straddle planche for 5 seconds

The previous week I was able to do my first set of weighted pull-ups (beginner, 8 months of training experience). Got excited, did couple sets with 5kg plate, and then even managed to do 2 reps with 10kg. When I did the last set, just bodyweight, I felt like I was flying on the bar (in comparison to weighted sets). Amazing feeling. Thank you Alex, you've been my inspiration since day 1 of my training. Cheers.
