It’s so hard to live in a messy household when you’re the only one who wants it clean while your family doesn’t care

I love what you said about "who am I cleaning for" - that's such a simple statement but it has such an impact!!

When you clear clutter from your home, you clear clutter from your life! My home is clean and airy.

Getting rid of clutter (it takes time but it is worth the effort) and making sure everything you keep has a home...that keeps the place "company ready" also a routine is essential for bathrooms and kitchen.

Excellent message. I'm in the hospital recovering from surgery. My nurse stopped her work to listen to you too. She said she had a light bulb moment. 😊

My husband lovingly told me this wisdom about 10 years ago when I was the frantic morning mom who made everyone frantic and couldn’t find shoes! 😂
Sadly, it took me a few more years til I got that lightbulb moment. I was always wanting to do projects to update the decor but not actually keep it organized and clean. I’m very grateful I finally got it! It’s a joy to be a mother to 5 kids and be married to a man who loves me through all my faults.💕

It's really great to hear & watch how passionate you are about the way you care for your home & family. Not to sound too touchy/feely but you are truly ministering to a lot of folks who are/could be dealing with very stressful situations. You are really a blessing to me by encouraging me to be a better mom, wife, & home caregiver. THANKS!

Man, 40 years old. I have found your channel just today, I was searching for "get your house clean and organized". I literally had tears in my eyes when you started talking about the "who am I cleaning for" bit, it enlightens me about my relationship with self. And, the fact that you wanted so much that your loved ones have a safe haven in your home, made me more emotional because I hadn't had a mother like you, it made me see a hole in my soul which was hidden before. Thank you, madam, I subscribed.

you remind my of a story regarding grown children who donated everything from their mother's house, the house they grew up in. I wondered why, they said all the beautiful dinnerware, table linens, best linens and towels were SAVED for special guest. In otherwords, they were not considered the special guest in their own childhood home. What ended up happening is, there were no fond memories that had been established through the everyday use of these those items, sad really! I never forgot that, and use my dinnerware for the guests that matter most; myself, and my family. Yes, even when I'm dining alone I will still put a place setting to create the gift of the food that I have prepared that inturn sustains me. I reflect on all the hands and steps it took to get it to the market before we purchased it, and I make my meal. For that I am thankful! Thank you for sharing your story.

My grandmother always said you should mop the kitchen floor every night before you go to bed. It keeps it clean, calms your mind for sleep, and keeps midnight raids of the fridge from happening. A sort of meditation.

I searched for motivational videos to help me get organized-help me to want to maintain my home-there was always an excuse for me- I’m in my 60’s -it was always, oh my hips hurt, or I’m too tired etc…and now I have an overwhelming home that I am playing catch up with-
I can “so” relate to “someone is coming over, so let’s tidy up for them” but to your point- and a light went on in my head-who are we cleaning for? I also related when you said cleaning and organizing affects us in every way… it can totally ruin my day when I can’t find something because my house is in such a disarray, I am moody because I am overwhelmed… etc…
Thank you for this video. It’s the first one that has really hit home opened my eyes and got me moving, aching hips and all 😊

Hi Melissa

I love your “epiphany” about cleaning and organizing your house first and foremost for YOU and your loved ones! One can be more inviting, hospitable, and spontaneous when they live in and run a clean and tidy house.

Modeling this concept to your family will prepare your children for adulthood! I would train everyone in your family to “leave NO footprints” (no evidence of them messing up the clean spaces that you have worked hard to create and maintain!) A good houseguest always does this! They clean up after themselves and they don’t leave messes for the host/hostess to find!

Many parents are doing themselves and the world a disservice by not training their children to become neat, tidy, and CONSIDERATE!

What helps me keep my house clean is to think of doing everything while it's easy. It's easy to run a load of laundry big enough to fill a pillow case than a load 5 feet tall. It's easier to wash 10 dishes than a sink full of dishes like a restaurant. Do everything while it's small and easy. Only takes a few minutes.
