Mist water on the window and stick a layer of bubble wrap to the glass. It allows light in, but insulates the glass.

In the winter open the curtains on the side with the sun shining in. As soon as it goes into shade, close those curtains and open three ones where the sun has moved to shine in.
We used to call it chasing the winter sun. In the summer you're chasing the shade by opening curtains on the shady sides of the house.

Hang heavier drapes over your windows, as well as a cornice to stop the curtain chimney effect. Warm air from the top is the curtain is cooled by the window (glass is very conductive) and drops to the floor where it causes a draft.
Hand heavy drapes over your exterior doors. Especially if they are the metal fire treated doors. See cornice info above.

Ceiling fans set to winter help to odds the warmth around the room and helps you to feel warmer.

Just a few tips that have worked for me for decades.

I double up my already insulated socks. A straight leg pair of sweats and a baggy pair of sweats over that and a large 3xl sweater. If the sweater doesn't do the trick, I use a smaller sweater underneath. My problem is my hands gloves take away too much dexterity.

If you're bleeding your rads, you're better to check your heating system is balanced. Most likely, it's going to be squiffy if theyve needed bleeding!

Double or triple layer jumpers/fleeces; jogging pants, (do not discard older jogging pants, use them as the first layer), double Iayer socks, especially use those fluffy ones, wrap yourself in a duvet throw when dossing on sofa.

I disagree with keeping blinds and curtains closed. I used to do that but then depending how your house is orientated you will lose sunlight coming through the windows...house would get warmer naturally...
In france, in the summer, we keep the house all shut in dark to avoid heat.

Also you can put thick bubble wrap on the windows to keep insulation.

Here in America it's very expensive to heat your home so most people around me just insulate their home and use space heaters. We also wear warmer clothing in the house. about 30% of the US goes without heat due to utility cost btw. If you have heat then consider yourself rich.

I already do most of these, keep my home at around 15°C and wear multiple layers of clothing, but I'm still cold all the time and pay about 100€/month for electricity. Gotta love old wooden houses and electric heating 🙃

Sadly I'm renting and there's cracks in the floor and our windows aren't even sealed, just sit loose. So I'm trying to find solutions 😭

Let sunlight come in, and then cover windows just before sundown. Curtain over doorways which lead to the outdoors. I also put curtains in the stairway, to keep the main rooms warmest ( depends on set up of your house). Cuddle someone. Cuddle dog. Drink baileys.

That warm clothing is the biggest one. Love the tip about the foil behind the radiator 👍🏾

yeah but ironically doubling up your socks will actually make your feet colder because it cuts off blood circulation!

Leave the oven open after is not helping, the heat inside will go out slower if you have it closed, will not add more heat.
