My kids do their own laundry since age 8. They know how to use a computer, phone, iPad, then they also learned to operate a washer and dryer😊.

I so agree with sharing the chores out fairly amongst your children. Being the oldest should not be a lifelong punishment

Love this. I do 15-30 minutes each night, focussing on keeping on top of the laundry and kitchen. Waking up to a clean home is so calming.

For sure the mini tasks when a bit of down time is key to a tidy house. Do not leave a room without taking something with you to put away. I lessened my flat surfaces throughout the home to one per room. Eliminate coffee tables, side tables etc. When there is no place to lay things, you put them away! Thank you for your reasonable approach to home life.

The first thing you gotta do is start decluttering, IMO. Once you start doing that, you will notice how easier your home is to clean.

I work 3 days a week. I dont get much done on those days. My priorities are cat box, kitchen, laundry, a quick trip over the bathroom and take out trash. Im weird, i dont like dusting. Its my least favorite chore. So my off days i do a full house cleaning. One thing that helps me is making the bed every day. Clutter is my enemy! feel more in control if my house is completely clutter free. Also, dont go to bed with dishes in the sink.

I did a Swedish death cleaning is 2023. I really feel it helped me on so many levels. My shopping habits have changed. I also built a pantry. It really helps me not overspend. I didnt realize how many duplicates of beauty products and papet products. I have also stopped buying single use items. I have 2 cloth mop heads. I have on multipurpose cleaner like you. I have cleaning rags made from old towels. And no more water bottles!

Great video! I should get a bigger trashcan!

Since i moved into my own apartment and i now live alone i choose to do an entire home clean on the Friday i get paid. This usually onky takes me 40 minutes because my apartment is 750 sqft and during the week i don't clean i make sure to do what i call spot cleaning where i clean something that gets dirty right away like dishes and the toilet. Another thing that can cause clutter is mail if you don't open it and throw it out right away. I make sure to do that. My apartment is very clean and clutter free during the work week.

I've trained my brain to tidy up whenever I'm on the phone chatting with my friends. I don't out on what's going on with them but I also end up with something to show for my time too and I actually enjoyed that time cleaning because I was more focused on my friends and less on the chore.

Awesome video idea! I used to dread my days off because I liked working more than housework. Since being out of the workplace, I've learned that there are certain basics that should be done daily (like the dishes, spot cleaning, and putting things away) and that tasks can be spread out over several days for areas you want to clean weekly like the bathroom instead of taking a huge chunk of time to clean all at once.

When I walk out of one room, I pick a few things up that belong to another room and put them away. It helps cut down on the weekly clutter.

I clean full time for a living, so have to really motivate myself when I get home 😂

You can get a lot done in just a few minutes and every step forward is progress. I usually do a bit of washing up while I'm waiting for the kettle, for the pancake to cook before I have to turn it over. or when the microwave is on. even if I don't get everything done, it's better to get a little done than nothing.

Agreed! Spot on! Delegating is the key.

I homeschooled 3 kids K-12, which is a full time job because you can't clean while teaching reading, math, science, history, on weekdays and driving them them around to various activities several times a week.

I trained mine from ages 4-5 along side me while I cleaned teaching them how to do it. This is not play and bonding time-do that after chores. Then at 6 they were able to clean independently. We had a cleaning schedule for after school that took into account activities. It usually meant an hour a day weekly chores (vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms, etc.) on non-activity days. I had a reusable task checklist for big jobs with many smaller tasks like cleaning bathrooms: mirrors, counters, tub, toilet, floor. It was in a plastic page protector and with a wet erase marker to mark off as they went along, that way they knew what my expectations were.

Then we did daily stuff every day like unloading the dishwasher (put your most frequently used dishes in the LOWER cabinets so your young children can unload them at very young ages.) Buy a canister or stick vacuum and a spray mop or steamers so they can handle them at a young ages.

Everyone in my house did their own laundry (bedding and clothing) starting at age 8, a very typical thing in the homeschool community of GenX parents. We bought a step stool so they could reach the bottom of the top loading washer. They each had an assigned laundry day. They also used that step stool to clean bathroom mirrors and dust higher shelves.

We divided daily and weekly household chores between the kids and me (husband worked from home and did all outside chores) and rotated the names every month. Don't let your kids only do chores they prefer-that's not the real world. A daily tidy after dinner is a huge help-put your stuff back where it goes regularly and it doesn't pile up every often.

And we had consequences ready to go in keeping with our parenting philosophy as enforcement. You get what you inspect and enforce. Consistency is a parental responsibility, cooperation in contributing to the household is everyone's responsibility.

Then teach them to cook meals by age 13. They can contribute cooking a meal once a week as teens.

Everyone who lives in a home should take care of their home regardless of age and/or gender. A little cleaning each day is better than dedicating a day each weekend to clean.

My new year resolution is to implement tiny habits.
One of them is: cleaning kitchen when putting on kettle to boil, second is to tidy my office for 30s every time I get there.
It is unbelievable how much you can tidy in such a short time.
And also when I start for 30s i often naturalny do it for a little longer so in January my kitchen and my office became more tidy indeed
