Why Did Count Dooku Believe Yoda Had Once Secretly Embraced The Darkside? For most of Dookus's life, he believed Yoda to be a devout, if misguided, practitioner of the light side. However, certain events would make Dooku believe that Yoda had once trained in the way of the Sith. The first sign was Yoda’s quick deflection of Dookus's force lightning on Geonosis. However, more important, was their duel on Vjun. While trying to convince Yoda of the dark side's power, he felt a simmering darkness within the Grand Master that reminded him of the hidden intensity of Palpatine while he played the role of chancellor. And for a brief moment, Dooku received a terrifying vision of Yoda with a face that resembled Sidious, leaving Dooku convinced that Yoda had indeed studied the dark side.

They explain in the comics that Yoda and yaddle race is very strong in the both side of the force that they do learn the darkside of the force, but their race always has a stronger pull towards the lightside of the force. Kind of like the Dathomirions have a strong connection to the darkside of the force.

I mean his race is like one of the most force sensitive groups in existence and their connection goes to both sides of the force. They learn how to use the entirety of the force but their people is naturally drawn to the light side so they end up not really using much of any of the dark side powers they learn on their homeworld

It's pretty sad that, during the duel against Yoda in Vjun, Dooku almost turned back to the Light, something that would have ruined Sidious' plans. I think Dooku deserved to redeem himself and have a happy ending like Anakin

The thing is yoda was showing dooku the danger of the darkside, and how dooku was tempting him. For a second, a single second yoda let the darkside flow through him and become its conduit, scaring the shit out of dooku, yoda and his species are nearly always light side users, but it doesn’t mean they don’t study the darkside, the more you know your enemy the power you have over them.

Yoda wasn’t a darkside users, he was just the grandmaster of the Jedi, and a few hundred years old while being from one of the strongest force wielding species in the universe. If yoda ever fell to the dark he would make sidious look like a joke.

That makes sense. Yodas race is still a young child at 50 years (Grogu was early 50s in the Mandalorian series. Yoda was about 900 years old when he died.

The bond between Dooku and Yoda becomes much more understandable and sad if we take into account that the little green man was his only close being who did not disappoint him in his childhood, since his friend Lorian Nodd vilely betrayed him for a crime he did not commit and his Master Thame Cerulian was a clumsy and inept guy who took things too carelessly. If not for Yoda, Dooku would have ended up on the dark side even before he met Qui-Gon.

Yoda definitely studied the dark side, in an episode of the Clone wars season 6 Yoda travelers to a plant where he encounters a dark side version of himself and it says "Yoda plays not with me anymore", that sounds like he used to use the dark side.

Yoda did study the sith teachings but not by embracing the darkside but learning how to deal with more powerful darkside powers like sith lightning also yoda faced his darkside form and absorbed him as he belived that for yoda to be true to himself he needed to embrace that darkside as park of himself

In lore and cannon, many Jedi used dark side abilities. While not preferred it is allowed long as they do not let the dark side rule them. That's why Jedi did not allow attachments. Desiree if life and strong emotional attachments are two basic foundations for the dark side to take root
