Yay! We are very similar. But I quit around December also last year from a biotech job as a scientist. It felt bad at the start because I felt I had so much privilege over people who were losing their jobs. But it's all about doing your own thing and looking after yourself!!!! So congrats!

This really resonated with me. I'm in the exact same position you described. I'm 40 years old and taken the plunge to start over. Leaving my "comfortable" position after 13 years and starting over in a new career. I bailed with doubts if I was doing the responsible thing, if I should just wait another 10 years until I could pull retirement with my company's contribution, etc. But as you said the writing was on the wall for me, and I didn't want to go have any regrets as I did when I took my job over another opportunity (that decision haunted me). I heard once, "If you get a second chance, you just have to take it!". And that's exactly what I did.

Took me 3 years to take the decision of studying, I could have been graduated at this point, women we definitely have to lose the fear and go for what we really want ;)

Been working as a administrator for 20 years in a care home, going through dismissal due to vac but also think it’s a push I need to do something else, but have no idea what. It’s scary to start over especially as in a few years I will be 50 but I feel it’s now or never.

OMG your questions are really nailed it. "Do you see like to work in your field for the rest of your life? HELL NO-Same with me!!" I need to spend like, 10 years to finally realize that my career isn't for me. And now ive had enough, and this job really makes me suffocating and numb. Feels like i have buried my real self for too long, im planning to quit my job next year though after my maternity leave + bonus. And after that i really2 want to try to explore the jobs that more suitable towards my visions and who i am as a person, just like you said. Wish me luck! and thanks for sharing!

10 years ago I took over a small business from my dad. Now I am burnt out and ready to change careers into something more oriented with my computer science degree. The problem is the business is deeply in debt so the only way out will be bankruptcy. This will be an enormous challenge but I have nightmares of myself still running this extremely difficult business in 5 or 10 years. Currently age 37 and turning 38 soon and feel like if I'm gonna do this need to do it soon. Very scared, depressed and anxious about it all.

Hey, Lovely, i am sat here cat and cuppa and i am watching, we need more stories by mature yet still young lasses . We deal with real life issues out here, especially because some of us are parents and we are starting to grapple with the reality that perhaps our own parents might not feel well and we are trying to improve our lives quicker and faster.
I can read your positive aura, you appear to be in a place where you can see the light in the tunnel even though its not perfect just yet but you are getting there.

i haven't got a middle aged life crisis going on ( Yes I am a bloke ), I am not balding lol!. quitting my current job later this summer because i want to switch gears . I m not jaded nor bitter i just want a fresh reset . My soul is in a different place.

Well I am a bit confused, like you say you quit but at the same time you have a husband who I guess works and brings money home, so you are definitely not on your own and no stress therefore.
