Chronic hamstring pain and tightness can be caused by a multitude of factors. One common situation I see in the clinic is when someone has chronic pain and tightness in the hamstring BUT has had all sorts of treatment and it still doesn't respond to it. Explosive movements, like jumping or sprinting, require strong contractions of both the glutes and hamstrings. In the presence of hip weakness, the hamstring takes on a greater load. If this is repeated often enough, a chronic situation of pain and tightness can occur in the hamstring. Learn more about the connection between hip strength and hamstring pain in the video.

a couple months ago i was messing around trying to do a handstand and didn’t notice during but immediately when i stopped i realized i had pulled my hamstring (something i hadn’t done in years) and rested it and started going back to working out but avoiding leg days because whenever i stretched i could feel a significant drop in my normal flexibility still, even after the pain went away. like a general stiffness. hearing this video avoiding leg exercises is clearly what’s wrong and the fact that im not actively playing sports to even give me some of that hip action that i don’t get from being an adult going to the gym.. wow. thank you! i did those one leg bridges and could only do 15 and worked up a sweat doing it— and im in pretty good shape! thank you

Hi, my right hamstring is pulled from playing soccer and I want to fix it. Are these exercises in this video just to check out which side of my gute/hip is weak or should I do these exercise often to fix my injury? If yes, how often in the week and how about the rep / sets scheme? Should I beside the strentgh training also run/play soccer or would you recommend first strentgh training for period of time and then start to run/play soccer?
