The thing is....no impulse shopper is only spending $15 a week...which makes it even more insane.

I like to buy clothes on sale that are "out of season", cause you tend to pick more timeless items instead of the trendy ones, and you get the satisfaction to buy "cheaper"

The part about washing is so true. So many clothes become misshapen, the colours bleed, or the dye fades too quickly. Proper washing technique helps but nothing can save something that is of too poor quality.

Thankss!!! I am going to return few things😂😂 My cousin always says if the best thing of something is the price don’t buy it!😊

The funniest thing happened... I was listening to your 4 criteria for not buying on impulse and paused after the last one to prepare my pen and paper to start writing... and then shock came! I hit play again and heared "take notes so you don't forget". Laughed out loud! 😅😅😅

I don’t care what you are saying, I can listen to you all day long, you have such a wonderful voice and accent!❤

I walked away from a rather nice looking coat on sale this week after seeing “do not wash” on the tag. I had your voice in my head saying it was a bad purchase! Hopefully there will be better made items more readily available for the masses soon.

Every season I spend 2 e venings looking at the trends and then what’s available in the stores I shop at. I then plan a capsule wardrobe and a complementary wardrobe for what I already have. This saves me thousands and means I can easily afford some high end labels without breaking the bank.

The washing one is so true. And also, if an item is dry-clean only, etc., that should also influence your buying decision

Suggesting a #5. Can you thrift it?
I have found that thrifting pieces I want has significantly helped with my impulsive shopping habits.

Here's a few tips I have for impulse shopping in person:
- If possible, bring only cash. You have a hard limit that way.
- If you see something you like, try it on. Take pictures if you like! Then take it off and put it back. Sometimes just the experience of "catching and releasing" is all you need.

Justine, this is gold. I recently purchased a trendy pair of pants. Every time I look at them, I wonder why I buy them.

Another tip I've learned from you is to wait a day or two before buying the item. If I want it then I'd still be thinking about it. You are a tremendous help, Justine ) :)

My favorite “fast fashion” store is Desigual, I love it, and wear their pieces for years. They also have a lot of eco friendly materials

Really useful advice, I wish my mom wasn’t so vulnerable to impulsive shopping 🛍️

I'm in the plus-size category, so lots of fast fashion won't fit me at all. So by the time I *do* find something that fits, I've spent so long searching that I'm not about to buy items that are 1-2 wears only OR "do not wash" items. Even if I get lucky & find something cheap, it's going to need to last me a year at bare minimum, preferably longer. (I've got a few clothes that I've had for a decade or more.)
Also, FYI for others with chronic illnesses like me: SOME "hand wash only" items can go in a delicates bag to be machine washed (especially if your machine doesn't have the center agitator) & then air dried. It depends on the fibers involved, but cotton, rayon, etc. are usually good.

I used to be the biggest impulse shopper. I’m talking weekly trips to Primark. My wardrobe had some cool stuff but a lot of it felt very fragmented and hard to combine and I constantly found myself looking for more and for new. Now, my wardrobe has a fixed colour palette based on the colours that suit me, which also are easy to combine with one another, I almost only shop to fill gaps I’ve noticed in my style or to replace items that have seen their best days. I have never been happier with my personal style! Alyssa Beltempo has an amazing account to follow for anyone looking to find appreciation for their own style and closet, btw.

i used to be. i still occasionally fall into it, but it's gotten much better, as i mainly buy second hand silk. (new silk is just not.. you know.. just no..) and let me tell you, it saved me so much! i really like taking care of the second hand silk stuff i buy, as you can only spot clean-it, and need to be really careful with it. i take so much pride in how i care for these pieces and wearing them makes me feel so good. it's really about valuing what we have instead of always looking for what new stuff to get. it was a lot of your advice that got me off of impulse shopping justine, so thank you soso much for the content you provide for us!

Knowing your colors, shapes, having a personal capsule wardrobe has been hard for me but (to figure out what I really like) in the long run, has worked. I don't really go with trends, I buy things that I truly wear and love even though sometimes might seem repetitive.. But it also helps you save a lot of money

I am a retiree on a tight budget. I like quality classic clothes. I need them to last years. The cost of dry cleaning is astronomical now, plus it requires the use of too many chemicals.
