I believe you're supposed to sit in the water while caulking. It helps soothe the tradesman.

If you weight the tub down and caulk it wouldn’t it move slightly upwards when the water drains thus smashing your caulking?

News flash. If your tub sinks, you have more problems. Also the tub will rise when emptied causing damage to the joints.
