C'mon you need to make this longer, this is one of the smoothest caulking I've seen without having to go back and smooth it out.

I never thought about it before but it makes sense now. Pushing does seem like it would be forcing the caulk in tighter over pulling but for most DIYers either way will be fine.

I think the video is edited in the wrong order.
The tip should be cut off first. The remaining portion is heated and pinched with the washers. This has the reverse order.
