Kilmer almost had a heart attack when he said, “drive them hard, enjoy them they’re made for that.”

How I got rid of my BMW reliability issues? Sold it. So now someone else has to figure out why the check engine light keeps coming on.

Let me share my very painful experience with BMW. Bought a 2012, 528i M package with only 41k, from a dealer. (that time car was less than 4 years old), beautiful car, excellent driving experience until in about 2 WEEKS (yes saw it correctly) it started smoking like crazy early morning when the engine was cold, found out these car have issue with Turbo charge and BMW offered extended warranty due to this common issue. It was fixed in BMW of Monrovia in souch CA. in less than 6 month check engine light came on and dealer charged me 190 to diagnose the issue and told me it will cost me 850 to fix a thermostat. and they did, few month later, it was another check engine light but this time another mechanic helped me and changed the engine belt. The battery was the next to get changed, Then the seat belt holder got messed up and I had to buy a used one form Ebay and changed it myself. In less than 2-3 years and when the car had only 60k all the interior bottoms started chipping paints and the seat (in particular driving seat) started fainting), I bought interior paint and fix the seats but the bottoms kept chipping, and while in 72 k can had drive train issue and needed either new engine (12k) or thanks god, I found a mechanic who helped me change the Timing chain, and tensioner (which BMW is under a huge lawsuit for) for about 4k. and gladly sold the car. If these are not reliability issue what will be!! stop selling this stupid car until the company takes responsibility.

My girlfriends are very unreliable also, they break down every month but I still care and keep them running with nice gifts and dinners

Mark, your videos are a great resource for us bkw lovers. I have a mechanic who said do not use aftermarket parts, use OEM parts, they will last a lot longer. I have been changing parts like you requested so the car will last a lifetime.

Great advice on your part, which every BMW driver should follow. Maintenance should not just be regular and proper but in the first place preventative. Driving style can also 'play a huge part. It's not about driving fast or slow. It's about how you treat your car.

Instead of asking us to basically build a new engine from the "waist up", why don't I send these great insights to BMW designers to get their shit together and build one robust metal tank once and for all?😆😎.

I would have accepted your points, had there not been other reliably made performance brands already in existence.

Great info for BMW owners to look out for their cars! Specifically, the expert advice I have on e92 M3's rod bearing are: (1) staying below 3000rpm before engine reaching operating temperature, typically 160 to 180 Fahrenheit, (2) have engine oil analysis using labs like Blackstone between oil change.

BMW is not reliable because they use a lot of plastic in the engine which in time and with intense heat, they crack. In addition to all that, they’re expensive to maintain.

Replace the engine with a Japanese engine
Problem solved

I have 230k on my BMW 2006 325i and I absolutely love it! Zero problems engine wise but like you said you have to stay on top, or ahead of the maintenance. Great advise bro! Great video learned a lot cause I am looking at the M4.

You can't end BMW reliability issues once and for all 😂😂😂😂. Knowing common issues and regular maintenance may minimize not ending them.

6 cylinder naturaly aspirated engines were fairly reliable. Most high power 4 and 6 cylinder turbo cars aren't reliable.

Having a small engine that makes a lot of power, you have to expect all kind of problems. More Power means more heat, more stress to internal components and more failures.

You have to choose what you want, power and reliability hardly get along.

If power is your priority, forget about reliability.

BMWs are designed for car enthusiasts who care about performance and driving experience and care less about reliability.

I have a 2013 328i xdrive. 110, 000 Kms. Great car but it’s expensive to maintain. I’ve had carbon build up, check engine light with a cylinder 2 misfire. New spark plugs fixed it. Valve cover cracked a few weeks ago and had that replaced. It’s plastic. Regular maintenance as well. I think it’s time to trade it in. Great car but expensive to maintain.

Beginning to feel all the years of bmw r&d, the engineers are finding more effective ways to milk more money from owners to get their ultimate driving machine to visit expensive service centres more often

I had found some aluminum (just non PLASTIC) aftermarket cooling systems to avoid those issues

I truly believe N55 engines and B58 engines are one of the most reliable engines for BMW. My N55 now has over 110, 000 miles and so far it hasn't given me any problems. I just change my oil after every 4, 000 miles, I changed my transmission oil at around the 100, 000 mile mark, change the oil filter, and make sure there is sufficient amount of motor oil every 2 weeks.

If you want to extend the life of your BMW, I highly suggest upgrading the charge pipe before the OEM one fails, and upgrading the lower intercooler to allow the engine to keep cool under regular use.
