No joke, I had a car once that was totaled for being keyed.

I mean, I'm driving a car that I bought from Copart. Replaced a few parts, new bumper, got a reconstructed title, and now it's my daily beater car :).

Love my salvage car as of now owned for 2 years without any problems and paid a quarter of the price that I would've paid at a dealer

I love salvaged cars. I bought my last Accord at 30k mikes and took it to 280k mikes no problems.

Not when the body shop jacks up the repair estimate on a high mileage car that has nothing wrong with it other than the fact deer ran into it and bang up the bumper, headlight, a fender and door.

Insurance companies total everything these days lol. I've seen cars totalled for hail damage on the hood lol. It's dumb as hell.

Wrong on salvage vehicles. I've seen repairable cars total due to the high cost of the repair. Generally due to the labor cost which can exceed 2x the parts.

I have a rebuilt title car....rear end damage that did not ruin anything major in the car, but the insurance said the car wasn't worth the money to pay for the body damage, so they totaled it...it was then bought and given a rebuilt title, and then I boight it....great car...no problems

I have only ever driven salvage title cars. No issues and always made profit after fixing them and the people buying them get a steal also. The thing is, a lot of times insurance WILL in fact total a car that does not not necessarily need to be totaled only because they don't consider fixing that car worth it relative to its value. That does not mean the car had something terrible happen ( like frame damage). All my cars needed body work, and worst case needed suspension work. But you do have to be skeptical of who you're buying from, unfortunately there are always shady people.

I had 2 different salvage cars. Eventually other people wrecked into them, I was rear-ended each time. When their insurance company paid me the checks for the cars, BOTH times I received more money than what I paid for them. Yes follow Scotty's advice, but use this to your advantage. Salvage title car prices can be talked down to be 50% or less than normal titled cars.

Bong water, first time I ever heard of it being mentioned spilled into car seats, that sure is hilarious 😂

I bought a 25 yr old CRX which was totaled because the car locking steering column lock was busted and the dash around the stereo was broken when they stoled the stereo. For that age car the insurance totaled it. To expensive with labor to be worth fixing but not my free labor. No problem to fix and no other structural or mechanical damage I think Scotty means newer salvage cars.

I'm always surprised at how many cars come in to the shop with salvage titles. People are shocked that salvage vehicles have had the factory warranties cancelled. I'm also surprised at how many people buy salvage title vehicles for their kids.

I have a salvage Lincoln Cartier salvaged from an insurance employee.
It's so sweet.

For the Copart auctions I have watched, insurance companies will write off cars that are 7Years + with little damage, but the newer ones that are sold by insurances have big damages

Lol love the reference pic Scotty, got my Foxbody from a salvage yard in bayside Queens 30 years ago in 4 ft of grass no glass interior theft recovery, started right up rebuilt it with my dad and still have it today 🇺🇸🤘

I have to disagree on the salvage car. I've had two that were perfectly fine. At least in NV, you have get these cars inspected and a lic. mechanic has to sign off on the car to get the rebuilt title. The stain on the title hurt the resale value and you can get these cars super cheap.

I got a '97 Honda Accord wagon with the five-speed manual with a salvage title that I bought from a friend's dad – who's also my mechanic – for only $500. I bought it before knowing about the salvage title but when I asked my friend's dad about it, he said the insurance company totaled it only because of an 8-inch wide dent in the left, rear panel and a 5-inch chunk of the rear bumper missing. The rest of the car is totally fine and it's fun to drive. I know my friend's dad wouldn’t try to unload a bad car on me and the Accord will be my beater car for many years to come now.
