I usually use a crows foot prybar to remove, and to put on if you can get it started you can slap down at the siding at an angle and it'll usually go into place, that tool is great for those pieces that refuse to catch

I really hope that was caulked when it was installed otherwise ypu had water leaking into your wall

If you have a small pry ber that works well don't have to buy a tool
