That's interesting, someone has marketed this idea now. When I was a little younger, about 40 years ago, I helped my uncle fix loose siding on my grandmothers house. He cut pieces from a roll of 2" (I think) flashing and bent them into roughly this same shape. He called them spacers.

Any ideas for a house with no wood sheathing? There’s just framing, rigid foam, then vinyl siding. As you can imagine hard to do anything with the siding nailed into foam (and looks like most of the nails are hanging or have fallen out)

Great video, thank you! In my case, the last 2 pieces of wall sidings (looks pretty close to the one in this video) the last 2 pieces fell off. The handyman tried to start from the bottom going up, the side appeared to be jammed from the right and a bump was formed or not overlapping correctly. It was very difficult to fix the sides starting from the bottom. Then we started from the top beginning with the last piece that was hanging properly and followed the same normal steps but in reverse order. That is, place the disconnected side alligned to the one above, strick the nails to put it in its place firmly, and snap the pieces together until they click. All looked fine but we could not snap the last piece to the bottom edge. Every time we snap one end, the other end will disconnect and pop loose.
