Not pretending to be negative. Just fact. The time this little portion of earth takes to recovery and to starts —just the starting process— to getting out of desertification will take around 15 to 20 years. By that time the exponential growth of human population will give much more mouths and stomachs to feed than this ex-desert can support. However, the issue is not that... because you can grow in vertical anyway... The problem is that the water needed to attend this plants will never come back again in something that (I call in my personal research) is called «local water cycles». Let's say, part of the product from this land is gonna be trees and the other, at least 1/2 or 1/3 should be agricultural production: each fruits and vegetable taken out of its environment carries also water out, this exported to overseas takes the water to other world areas, changing dramatically the local and continental water cycles.
Two of the best solutions are:
1. The practice and standardization of permacultural growing systems.
2. Stop growing human population.
(A Third one will be to learn to eat what is local and stop the over consumption as well as stop the «living like a king» global living model, standardized by Occidental Cultures, nowadays spread almost all over the world.
